A/N: Jackie is such a cutie and she literally did no wrong the entire series (fight w me idc). But I’m hoping YJ tumblr is still alive idk? Enjoy this fic tho ! (Not proofread)
“Oh my god.”
Your mouth is agape as you watch the ball you kicked hit Jackie Taylor straight in the nose.
The whole team stood and watched in shock as the ball coming from the complete opposite end of the field smacks her straight in the face.
The best way to describe Jackie in your words was perfect. And you weren’t jealous of her or anything. You liked who you were and all but it was just true. Jackie had amazing grades, she was the captain of the soccer team and, from what you knew she came from a good family.
Even though you had been on the same team as her for two years now, you guys never really became anything more than acquaintances. You waved at her in the halls and she did the same but that was kind of it. You guys had different social circles and shared a few classes but never talked in them. She wasn’t anything to you really besides your teammate.
You ran as fast as you could to the other side of the field to help Jackie who was now clutching her nose and wincing in pain.
“Wait, Y/N!” You heard Natalie call out to you. And as you were running you looked back to see what Nat was calling after you about.
When suddenly you ran straight into Jackie and you both fell to the ground.
You grab your head and wince. Jesus did you have to be this clumsy?
Opening your eyes you see Taissa offering you her hand and laughing while Van does the same for Jackie.
As you stand up, you look at Jackie, her face was red from the impact and her eyes looked glossy. You felt like the worst person in the world.
“Shit, Jackie, I’m so sorry.” You say.
She winced again as she looks at you and tries her best to smile through the pain. “It’s totally fine. You didn’t mean to.”
Still feeling like satan himself you offer to take her to the nurse.
“Yeah that’d be great.” She says.
As you and Jackie make your way to the side of the field Nat catches up with you.
“Way to go Y/N,” She says, teasing you.
“Now, is not the time to be an asshole.” You say to her halfway joking.
You and Nat had been best friends since practically the first day of kindergarten. You had caught her outside throwing rocks at kids during recess, and since that was right up your alley, you joined her. Ever since then you guys have been inseparable. And constantly being menaces towards everyone together.
Nat waves you off and walks back to the field. You turn your attention to Jackie and stop her so that you can move her hands from her face. You Inspect her nose and it was most definitely bleeding but, it looked okay. You were shocked at how powerful you could kick.
“It should be fine.” You say smiling a little at Jackie.
She nods not seeming to believe you.
The walk to the nurses office was filled with awkward silence. You had no idea what to say to her. You just kicked her in the face and then basically tackled her. You were shocked she didn’t hate your guts.
As you walk to the door you realize that since it’s after school the nurse isn’t gonna be inside the office.
“Uhm. I kinda forgot that she wasn’t gonna be here.” You say awkwardly to Jackie who somehow, was giving you her award winning smile even though her nose was literally bleeding onto her jersey.
“It’s fine I can just get ice when I get home.” She says, shuffling her feet.
“Or I could get us into the office without a key?” You say smirking.
She looks up at you, her hazel eyes glowing with disapproval. “There’s cameras? Don’t you think they’ll see us.”
“So what? Are they gonna give us detention for stealing an Ice pack?” You laugh, rolling your eyes.
The corner of her mouth turned upwards and she smiles a bit but still looks worried.
“Come on Jackie, live a little.” You look down at the lock and grab a hairpin.
In about 3 minutes you were into the office.
Jackie looks at you her mouth slightly open.
“Wow, you didn’t think I could do it did you?” You look at her with a fake offended face on.
“No I definitely didn’t. But, you did.” She says giggling.
Still feeling very responsible for her obvious pain you say, “Here sit on one of the beds I’ll grab the ice pack.”
Looking around the nurses office you find the freezer and grab some ice. You put it into a plastic bag and wrap a paper towel around it.
“Scooch.” You say and you sit next to her on the nurses bed.
You gently grab her chin and inspect her face noticing that the bleeding stopped.
“Wait.” You say getting an idea. You go into the bathroom get some tissue and wet it with cold water.
When you get back over to her you notice she’s already shifted back into where you were sitting.
You playfully roll your eyes at her. “Cmon, schooch again.”
You sit back down and grab her face again. This time you move closer your faces are only inches away from each other. You gently wipe the blood off her face. Her breathing starts to falter a little and you look her in the eyes. “God, the ball must’ve hit you hard, you can barely breathe from the pain.”
Her cheeks go a light shade of pink that you wouldn’t have noticed if you weren’t so close to her. “Uhm. Yeah it hit me pretty hard.” She says.
“Sorry again.” You say.
A little out of it from the throbbing coming from her face and her proximity to you at the moment, Jackie bursted out laughing. Very confused since nothing funny happened, you look at her.
“What?” You say starting to laugh a little yourself.
“Nothing,” She says trying to catch her breath. “You’re just like the clumsiest person i’ve ever met.”
“Asshole,” you laugh out.
“I’m the asshole? You’re the one who kicked me.” she exclaims, attempting to stifle her laugh.
You narrow your eyes at her playfully and hand her the ice pack.
“Now you’re back to the beautiful normal Jackie,” You say. “All that blood was not doing you justice.” You joke.
She blushes at your words slightly and you notice but brush it off as her face just being red from earlier.
Getting up from the bed she looks down at her wrist, checking the time. “Practice is probably over now.”
“Yeah. We should go and get changed.”
-⚽️-
After changing and showering you walk with Nat to your car. You guys stop there for a bit and chat.
“Is she coming over here?” You say furrowing your eyes and looking into the distance.
Across the parking lot was Jackie, smiling at you and Nat, in her perfect little outfit.
“You kick a girl in the face one time and now she’s obsessed.” Natalie says smirking while taking a drag from a cigarette.
You elbow Nat in the side at her sarcasm causing her to drop her cig. “Ouch?!” Clutching at her side she looks at you. When Jackie reaches your car she stops right in front of you and Natalie.
“Uh hey Jackie.” You say weerily.
“Hi.” She says, giving you that smile she gave everyone when she wanted something. You had seen it before a million times. And it worked every single time.
“Did you need something?” You ask.
“Yeah actually, I was wondering if you could drive me home?” She Bats her eyelashes at you innocently.
Nat gives you a confused look and you shoot one right back at her. Why was she suddenly talking to you?
You try to think of an excuse to say no. You had a routine after school. You got coffee at your favorite place and studied. Sometimes Nat came along if she wasn’t working. And then after school you’d watch movies or hangout with friends and smoke. Driving Jackie Taylor home was not apart of that routine.
“Doesn’t Shauna take you home? I thought you guys always like hungout after practice or something.”
“It’s totally fine! She’ll survive one day without us hanging out. Plus you owe me after today.” She smiles at you again.
Nat buts in. “Yeah you owe her Y/N, drive the nice girl home.” She says trying to annoy you.
You look over at Nat and give her a look that she immediately understands as “I’m literally going to kill you if you don’t leave right now.” Nat laughs and walks to her car. “I’ll call you later Y/N.” She yells to you before getting in.
You flip her off and yell back, “Please don’t!”
Jackie looks at you again and asks, “So are you gonna drive me or not?”
You just sigh and open the door for her.
She squeals and gets in.
“Oh, by the way I usually stop for coffee so I guess you have to come with me.” You say starting the car up.
“Fine by me.” She says.
You guys pull out of the parking lot and drive for a while in silence. You notice Jackie looking over at you every now and then and you try your best to ignore it.
“So, are you gonna play music?” She asks looking at you expectantly.
“If you want,” You shrug. “There’s a few cassettes in the glove compartment right there.”
She opens the glove compartment and gasps. “The Smashing Pumpkins!”
You look over at her doubtful. “You know them?”
“Duh.” She says rolling her eyes. You laugh and she puts the tape in.
1979 starts playing and she rolls her window down poking her head out.
Finally, you both make it to the coffee shop. You park and walk in.
Jackie looks around seeming to be impressed by the place. “This is really nice,” She says. “You come here everyday?”
You nod. “Yeah basically, I just come here to study for tests and things.”
You get to the register and tell the barista your order and so does Jackie. You go to pay for the coffee when Jackie grabs your hand. “Something wrong?” You say confused.
“My treat!” She says smiling. You step back and let her pay.
While Jackie waited for the coffee you grab a table. She sits down and hands you your coffee. “Thanks for paying by the way.” You say and smile a little at her.
“Anytime!” She says enthusiastically. She was constantly happy it was almost annoying.
You guys study for a while talking about random things. Jackie gets silent for a bit and you look up at her. She looked like she was super deep in thought about something.
“So are you like dating anyone?” She asks avoiding your gaze.
You look up confused as to why she wanted to know but you answered anyway. “Uh no not technically I guess.” You said. You weren’t really lying. You and this girl talked on and off but nothing ever really came of it besides a few kisses at parties every now and then. Your love life was practically nonexistent.
Jackie nodded. “What about you? Aren’t you seeing that dude. I can’t remember his name isn’t it like Jack?”
She chuckles. “Jeff. And no we broke up while ago.”
“Oh,” You say. “That sucks.”
She sips her coffee. “Yeah it’s whatever I don’t really like him anyways,” She looks down. “I don’t know if I ever did to be honest.”
Now you were curious. You look at her and notice she’s doodling on her hands. “What do you mean?” You inquire.
“Well, I don’t know.” She sighs. “It’s nothing.” Her hands start fidgeting with her pen and she breaks eye contact with you.
You were shocked by her mood shift. You’d never seen her look unsure of herself before. The only Jackie you’d ever known was the confident self-assured one.
“Well whatever it is, I’m sure your feelings are valid. Relationships are complicated. And any guy is lucky to have you Jackie.” You smile at her trying to make her feel better.
She looks up at you and smiles. “You’re not so bad yourself Y/N. Any guy is lucky to date you too.”
You almost spit out your coffee at her words. “Guy?” You say laughing.
She looks at you confused until it clicks and she widens her eyes. “Oh! I- Sorry I didn’t know.”
Laughing you say, “I’m surprised you didn’t?”
“Does everyone else know?” She asks baffled.
“Basically. And Im not the only one on the team you know?” You explain taking a sip of your coffee.
“What?!” She says, “Who else?”
You rest your head in your hand as if trying to recall who else. “Well, Van, Taissa, Nats Bi, and so is Lottie.”
She looks at you, her mouth agape. “Am I really this blind?”
You giggle at her “I guess so.”
You both stayed in the coffee shop longer than you normally do. You and Jackie actually got a long very well and it came as a shock to you. You were still a little confused as to why she even was hanging around you but it was refreshing. And you couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she was. Her naturally gorgeous hair, which seemed to always look like it was freshly blown out, the curve of her nose, her beautiful big eyes.
That night when you got home Jackie infiltrated your thoughts. You thought about her while eating dinner, while showering and, while you went to bed. You couldn’t get her off your mind and you already knew where this was going. You spent one day with her and now you had a crush on her. Was she really that intoxicating?

masterlist | first part | second part
The studio lights glowed softly as Renee Rapp and Y/N settled into their seats, ready for another interview. This time, the format was a bit different. There was no host, and they were told that they would be reading and reacting to "thirst tweets" from their fans. Renee and Y/N exchanged amused glances, knowing this would be a fun and cheeky experience.
The camera starts rolling, and Renee perks up in her chair.
"Hey guys what's up, my name is Renee Rapp and this is my lovely costar Y/N YL/N, and we're here with BuzzFeed to read our thirst tweets."
Y/N smiles softly at Renee as she speaks, turning to the camera playfully when she's done. "I'm so excited about this you have no idea. Let's see what our fans have to say."
The first tweet appeared on the phone, and the playful banter began.
Y/N giggles at the tweet, reading it out in between breaths. "Is it just me, or does Y/N's smile have the power to cure any bad day? Asking for a friend.'"
Y/N grins and looks up at Renee, and then back to the camera. "Well, I'm flattered. If my smile has that kind of power, maybe I should start offering smile therapy."
"I can attest to the smile therapy. It works wonders." Renee speaks with a smile that matches Y/N's, leaning forward in her chair like she's telling a secret.
Renee shakes her head with a shit-eating grin on her face at the next tweet, "I wish Renee Rapp and Y/N YL/N were my birth parents, actually no, I wish I was in a throuple with them."
Renee tilts her head, looking at the camera intently. "I think you need to decide if you wanna be in a throuple with your parents, and that's something you should talk to your therapist about. And I don't know who 'Y/N YL/N' is." Renee speaks with a laugh, looking over at Y/N.
Y/N has a tint of pink covering her cheeks as she shoves Renee's shoulder playfully. "that's, I need a minute to process that one" She giggles, scrolling to the next tweet.
As the tweets became bolder, the chemistry between Renee and Y/N intensified. The playful flirting was accompanied by shared laughter, and the studio audience couldn't get enough.
Y/N widens her eyes at this one, a silent laugh coming out of both Renee and her.
"Perfect threesome? Me, Y/N YL/N, and a tub of peanut butter. How you feelin' about that one baby?" Renee murmurs, looking over at Y/N softly.
Y/N raises an eyebrow, her face scrunching into a grimace. "that-" she shrugs awkwardly as her face gets darker in a shade of maroon, "makes me feel weird."
Renee smirks as she sees the effect she had on Y/N, grabbing the phone gently from Y/N's hand and reading the next tweet.
"Renee Rapp I am simply just a hole for you."
Renee sits there in silence for a second, pushing her tongue against her cheek while she laughs. "And I am simply just a fucking- I'm a person, I'm a human being. What do you want me to do to your holes? Be more specific."
As the interview shifted back to a more traditional format, An interviewer named Taylor came in and decided to focus on the professional aspects of Renee Rapp and Y/N's collaboration on "Unveiling Hearts." The studio lights dimmed slightly, creating an intimate ambiance as Taylor delved into questions about their characters, on-screen dynamics, and the impact of the show.
Taylor greets both Y/N and Renee, getting into her questions smoothly. "Alright, let's talk about 'Unveiling Hearts.' The chemistry between your characters is undeniable. How do you both manage to bring such authenticity to your roles?"
"Well, I think it helps that Y/N and I have a natural connection. It's not hard to portray a convincing love story when you're working with someone as talented as her." Renee speaks as she looks at Y/N, grinning at her.
Y/N blushed as she looked away shyly, "Aw, thanks, Renee. It's definitely a collaborative effort. We bounce off each other's energy, on and off the set."
Taylor nods and moves right into another question, "Fans are loving the romantic storyline this season. Any hints you can give us about what's in store for your characters?"
"Let's just say there might be a few more unexpected twists and turns in the romance department. You'll have to tune in to see." Renee leaned in, speaking with a playful glint in her eyes.
Y/N matched Renee's expression, placing her hands on her lap. "Renee loves to keep me on my toes, both in the script and in real life."
As the interview progressed, Renee couldn't resist injecting a flirtatious edge into her responses, causing Y/N to squirm in her seat. The studio audience picked up on the dynamic between the two, and Taylor couldn't help but smile at the palpable chemistry.
Taylor smirks at the banter between the costars, "What's it like working together? Any memorable moments behind the scenes?"
Renee looked at Y/N, a mischievous glint in her eyes as she narrowed them at her. "Oh, where do I begin? There are so many, I just can't choose. Probably that one time when we visited Paris, the Eiffel Tower was-
Y/N smacked Renee's arm quickly, but not hard enough to hurt her. "And that's enough out of her mouth." She spoke with a nervous grin, narrowing her eyes back at Renee.
The interviewer raised her eyebrows as the teasing continued, with Renee casually dropping endearments and playful comments throughout the interview.
"Working with Y/N is a dream. She's not just a talented co-star; she's my partner in crime, my confidante, my baby." Renee speaks with a flirty tone, gripping Y/N's knee and squeezing it softly before letting go.
At this point, Y/N's face was covered in a deep shade of maroon. "Okay, Renee, you're really going for it with the baby thing today."
Renee playfully flipped her hair and winked at Y/N, "Can't help it. It just feels right, baby."
The interview concluded with laughter and a lingering sense of warmth. The fans would undoubtedly dissect every word and gesture, adding a new layer to the mystery of the real-life connection between Renee Rapp and Y/N.
Renee wraps her arm around Y/N's shoulder as they finish reading the tweets, "Thanks for watching, hope you had fun, thank you for all these.. Very sweet.. Tweets, I will be thinking about them before I go to bed."
Y/N says to the camera, a false concern look on her face as she smiles at the camera, Renee and her waving as the screen fades to black.

WHEN YOU FIRST ENTER THE PHANTOM REALM – you'd awoken to taylor's screams. doors slamming open and footsteps resonating deep within the wooden floors of the place you were staying at. you shot up from your bed, groaning in confusion as you reached out to the window beside you. "weird," you noted to yourself, voice hoarse and heavy with sleep. red lights seeped through the gaps of the curtains. it pooled like blood and darkness, you'd begun to think, but then you quickly shook off your morbid imagination. you couldn't get this strange feeling off your mind that something was wrong. something was off. you rubbed the sleep out of your tired eyes, and soon that sleepiness was replaced by concern creeping up your spine. despite feeling lucid and detached from your body, you managed to make it out of your bed and into taylor and ashlyn's room. you hoped they just saw a spider, or something similar.
every step towards the room felt heavy, like you were forcing yourself to do dull machinations. strangely, you'd found a few of your classmates from the sorrel wood house convening by the door. taylor was huddled in tyler's arms, shaking as she struggled to recount what had happened. "so it wasn't a bug," aiden whispers to you when you make it to the room, grinning ear to ear as he gives you a once-over. you leaned on the doorway, the floors creaking as you do. his little attempts at lightening up the atmosphere made you feel slightly uneasier. not noticing the glare her brother sends over his shoulder, taylor starts talking again. her voice shook and her limbs trembled. "well- there's this, i don't know, but ash managed to kick it and knock it out-" the words die in her throat, and falters before they could reach her lips. logan hadn't even put his foot in the room when ashlyn abruptly puts her hands over her ears, which makes you all cast your glance behind her.
sure, you'd be fascinated by the blood night, but the person – no, thing – lunged at your group too fast for you to notice the crimson sky. all of a sudden, ashlyn is screaming for everyone to go, ben is pulling you by the arm, and everyone is scrambling on their feet get away from the creature. taylor is screaming, shouting, and god it is so loud, everyone is panicking and it was some wild teenager-monster cacophony. you don't know how ashlyn's able to hear something like this everyday and resist the temptation of sawing her ears off van gogh-style. your arm feels bruised, and as you're rubbing it to soothe it, ben shoots you an apologetic look. you pat him on the back, smiling as genuinely as you could. "if it weren't for you, i'd probably be mincemeat," you joke, "don't worry about it." the deck is small, cramped from having seven people squeezing around for safety. it was eerie, and cold, but the air seemed to stay still, as if it was frozen in time.
you'd think that being in the outdoor hallway, away from that thing, you'd be safe. a sudden thud on the door resounds through the atmosphere and ben runs over to grab the wiggling handle. aiden whistles, like some character in a horror movie you'd want to choke the life out of because of how sarcastic they'd be. "that could have been bad," he laughs, and it's almost mocking. tyler, being the hot-headed one of your group, unceremoniously chastises him. as he's scolding the blonde, however, another bang on the door makes you topple over the balcony's ledge. you fall.
you yelp, not able to grab on the half-walls (curse those tiny walls) of the balcony. everyone freezes, and your skin goes pale. logan shrieks and frantically tries to reach you in time, but you brace yourself before hitting the ground. you feel like you've been swept off your feet, but you don't know by what. you shut your eyes tight, praying to whatever god comes to mind, but the ground never comes to you. a gust of wind circles your body, twirling around you and wrapping around your body like a snake. it sends you hurtling across the sky, then allows you to catch your breath as you float around the building. aside from your surroundings turning darker, everything felt light. "what the hell," tyler is the first to speak, after seconds of silence. he's pointing at you, your body casually floating around in the air, and his eyes are wide in what looks like fear to taylor and astonishment to logan. "how is she doing that?"
his twin gasps, and she points downward. "guys, look," she whispers, like if she made a sound a little bit too loud, those things would jump on her. peering down they'd see more of those creatures. you covered your eyes, refusing to look at the ground. "help me!" you cry out, "what if those things could fly too?" your panic sends you flying higher, and even though you tucked your knees to your chest, you're frantically swerving all over the air. now you're shrieking, too. "better not push our luck," tyler says your name through gritted teeth as aiden takes over ben's place at the door. "inconvenient how these doors don't lock from the outside," he murmurs, with ashlyn deep in thought. "logan, ben, you two make sure she lands back here." she orders them, quick to direct, and they're quick on their feet.
ben, arguably the strongest out of your group, holds his arms out towards the edge of the balcony, hoping he'd be able to catch you when you fall. "stop panicking!" logan shouts at you, his voice carrying out through the wind whipping against your ears, "it's making it worse!" the gust of wind surrounding you whips his bangs over his forehead, nearly sending his glasses flying along with you. the air remains defiant as it tosses you around, akin to a child throwing toys far away from themselves. "if i could, i would have already, logan!" you bite back, not able to swallow down the sarcasm you'd been keeping under reigns. he's holding unto the railings, knuckles turning white and tense as ben scrambles around to catch you, making sure that you'll land in his arms. "maybe think of something funny? or cute? i don't know!" he screams back, voice cracking. this is the loudest you've heard him talk.
you take a tentative peek at them through your fingers, and ben resembles a firefighter waiting at the foot of a tall building. you felt like a cat on a tree, about to jump on a rescue cushion. the thought almost makes you laugh. almost immediately, it calms you down. just enough to let you clear your thoughts. logan whispers a thankful prayer under his breath when he sees your shoulders relax, shouting directions for you to be guided down to ben's arms. both you and logan let out a sigh of relief when you feel yourself dropping unto him. with grace, ben manages to carry you like a bride. he tilts his head, eyes wide with fear, and you can feel his heart thumping too fast from the adrenaline. or maybe that's your heartbeat, who cares anyway? you have more pressing matters to worry about!
you hop off his embrace as something rises to your throat, a warm, metallic taste filling your mouth. you swallow it back down for the meantime, feeling nauseous. ben wraps an arm around your shoulder, keeping you close to him. "they're going to climb the stairs," ashlyn frantically pulls at her sweatpants, and aiden throws out a comment about the boys' rooms being near them. logan, tyler, and taylor all take a head start. it would be difficult not to trip over each other's legs if you all were to run together, of course.
she managed to pull the strings off her's and aiden's bottoms, to which he doesn't retaliate. "need to make a break for it." she ties the strings to the pole and the door handle, looking directly at you. you nearly shy away from her sharp gaze, to hide into ben's chest, but she speaks before you can. "can you walk?" you nod, and she casts a furtive look at your body. your legs were trembling, still trying to get accustomed to the feeling of land again. she sighed, she can't have you forcing your body to go beyond its limits. too big of a risk. "we'll need to run," she hastily ties the knot on the door, "this won't hold." before you could say anything, ben scoops you and carries you again. not like you could wriggle out of his grasp anyways, and you weren't going to risk lagging behind.
as soon as she's able to secure the strings together, ashlyn is taking off and commanding the three of you to run. unfortunately for all of you, you don't get very far when the string snaps. "how is it that strong," you wail, and as if on cue, several more things climb up the stairs. aiden lags behind, ushering the rest of you in front of him. his eyes get caught on the bright yellow cleaning cart in front of him, swerving around it and grabbing a spray bottle filled with bleach. the monster opens its mouth in a silent scream, yet ashlyn covers her ears and winces. she groans and curses under her breath. stupidly, aiden's unarmed hand goes for its neck. it makes you scream at him to move away, and his ears perk up at you wailing his name. he presses his body against the wall while the phantom stands like a deer in the headlights in the middle of the narrow hallway.
you puff out your cheeks, eyebrows scrunched together in concentration. holding out a hand, you feel something stir inside your gut and you feel like you need to follow that instinct. your palm faces the dazed creature, and aiden looks on in amusement. "yikes," he tries to make himself less of a target, making sure he's out of your trajectory. ashlyn, curious, turns her head to see a flurry of wind circling your fingers and shooting towards the phantom. you huff, feeling your newfound powers take a toll on your body. the sound cracks like a whip, akin to a bullet ripping through the the wind. it pierces the place where the shadow's ribs would be, causing it to sway to the side. it topples over the ones running up the stairs like bowling pins. you don't have enough time to revel in your victories, however, as they start clambering to their feet.
the seconds it takes to run towards the room feel like hours, a dangerous dance where one misstep can cause you the whole performance. except the price to pay is your life - you don't give the metaphors any more thought as the door slams behind you and ben. you're holding unto him, wide-eyed and as bewildered as the phantom you shot earlier. you squint, feeling bile and the taste of iron threatening to spill from your lips again. you clasp a hand over your mouth, catching the attention of everyone else surrounding you. frantically, you tug on ben's sleeve, urging him to let you down.
in the next few seconds, you're hunched over the toilet. you don't know when taylor gets there, but you're all too aware of her palm rubbing circles on your back. her unoccupied hand tucks strands of hair behind your ears, and then she holds it up as you empty your body's contents into the bowl. above the sounds of you hurling, she's whispering words you can't make out. her tone was a mix of concern and encouragement, as far as you could tell. crimson waters swirl around as you flush the toilet, and you grimace. the faucet runs and taylor soaks a towel under it. "feeling better?" she helps you wash your face, wiping the blood away from your lips. "nauseous," you groan, but thankfully, no more bile climbs up your throat. an apologetic smile plays on face, "that was really cool." sweet taylor, always trying to find a way to ease your nerves.
as soon as you step out of the comfort room, aiden hounds you with questions you don't know the answers to. how did you do that? how high can you go? how long have you been able to do that? ben gestures for him to keep quiet, seeing your pale lips. tyler lets you sit next to him as you come to your senses. those are questions you'd have to figure out another time; for now, you'd get some rest.
── ୭˚. ᵎᵎ HEADCANONS:
⭑.ᐟ aiden thinks it's a really cool power and would sometimes ask you to let him fly on your back. you would control the wind around him and make him go up in the air with his body upside down.
⭑.ᐟ more often than not, it's taylor who helps you when you need to... regurgitate blood. it comes as a sort of instinct, after you use your abilities, she's immediately running towards you. she keeps a hair tie around her wrist at all times for times like those.
⭑.ᐟ ben, on the other hand, is always ready to catch you. his arms are outstretched, chasing after your floating form to catch you like he did the first time. he also carries you when your legs are too weak, and he becomes your favorite form of transport when your legs are adapting to the feeling of the ground again.
⭑.ᐟ logan helps you control the drawbacks, and he is your ground control. he also is intrigued by your ability to control wind. you two practice your aims together, whenever possible.
⭑.ᐟ tyler thinks you can be a bit of a menace. you like to mess with him, sometimes kicking up or messing with his hair. at first, he'd scowl and reprimand you. but then he'd find himself expecting another prank or two from you and aiden (optionally, taylor.)
⭑.ᐟ ashlyn is always looking out for your safety. she thinks of ways you can use your abilities to protect the gang, but she'd never force you to do anything you don't want to, lest you feel too much of a weapon and less of a friend. she appreciates when you use the wind to block out any harsh sounds, like when you're fighting some screeching phantoms.

Could we get a oneshot about the group(reader is a part of it) having a sleepover after escaping the phantom realm? (throw in some aiden x reader. I am absolutely feral for that boy)
Take as much time as needed! (since you should probably write about the other characters a little more-)

“Come on guys the movie is about to start!” Taylor yells as everyone settles down on the coach, you and Aiden on a large bean bag his parents owned. Wow that boy is rich. You were watching some random horror movie Aiden saw on tik tok so of course, you had to watch it. It was one of those disturbing movies so you guys didn’t get much food, just in case. Aidens hands were on your thighs which were in his lap, your head on his shoulder.
Everything was going smoothly, you were slowly getting lulled to sleep by the movie (which was surprising since most of the group was actually awake and disgusted) until the power went out. Some cursed, some screamed.. it was a funny sight. You groaned, covering your ears. “Alright whatever, I’m not fucking tired yet, let’s tell funny stories.” Everyone perks up and get up, lighting up a candle in the middle of the living room on the coffee table. It didn’t really light up the room that much but you could at least see something. Tyler grumbled, saying something about Aiden being indecisive and that he wanted to sleep just a second ago. “Okay, who wants to go first?” Aiden asks and everyones stays silent. You all look at each other and then at Aiden. “I see none of us wanna do this so.. how about truth or dare?” You speak up, the rest of the group along with Aiden agreeing.
Worst.decision.ever. Tyler ended up with a full face of make up, Ashlyn had to do some crazy ass yoga move with Taylor, Logan had to eat a spoon full of cinnamon, Aiden jumped from the second floor of their house onto the bean bag (which is slightly torn now) and then there was you, waiting for your turn which you were glad nobody was currently thinking about. “Alright, whose turn is it?” Tyler asks, eyeing you, Taylor and Ben, since you guys were the one that didn’t go just yet. He smirks at you and you shake your head no. “Y/N~ Truth or dare?” He asks and you shrug. “Dare I guess.” You look over at Aiden who looked like he was about to pass out from exhaustion which was a rare sight. “Those energy drink are catching up to his sleep schedule.” You think to yourself and look back at Tyler. “I dare you..” He starts and thinks about a good dare, silence engulfing the room for about few minutes. “Okay I got one, I dare you to kiss Aiden.” He smirks and you look over at Aiden who quickly sat up, eagerly waiting for your kiss. Your face reddens slightly, noticing Ash and Taylor taking out their phones that blinded you since they had flash on. You lean towards Aiden who cupped your cheek, your lips meeting in a quick, but sweet kiss.
Everyone cheers, a few whistles from Tyler, backed up by laughter. Your face reddens but you just laugh it off with the rest of the group. After a few more rounds, you all decided to actually go to sleep since it was almost 2am. You rested your head on Aidens chest, wrapping your arms around his stomach. His nose was nuzzled in your cheek, both of you comfortable in your positions. Your eyes start to feel heavy, slowly starting to loose consciousness when you feel a kiss on your cheek. You smile softly, turning around to face Aiden and cup his cheek, giving him a quick kiss on the lips. Before you could pull away, he weakly pulls you back into a longer kiss. You finally pull away for breath, smiling at each other like two love sick idiots. You finally feel yourself falling asleep, your whole world turning black.
You wake up in the morning to the sound of people talking, opening your eyes you see almost everyone awake. You sit up, walking to your backpack with your stuff and grab fresh clothes and things you need to freshen up, walking to the bathroom to do thise things. You think anout last night, wondering what you and Aiden were. You thought it would be best to ask him today, you you will later when you are alone. You get out of the bathroom, waving everyone goodbye since most of them needed to go home first before going out again. You sit down next to Aiden who almost instantly put his arm around you, kissing you on the cheek. “Good morning my love~” He says and you smile at him lovingly, but then cup his cheeks to make him look at you. “Alright, I need to ask you something cuz I haven’t been sleeping comfortably tonight.” “Well it looked like you were pretty comfortable last ni—” You shut him up with a playful smack on the chest and glare. “Alright, alright im listening.” He says, playing with your fingers. You suddenly get a burst of nervousness, but try your best to shrug it off. “Well.. this will be a bit of an odd question but.. what exactly.. are we?” You ask, making him snap his eyes at you. He looks a bit confused but sighs. “I guess I need to say it don’t I..” He says and you nod; “That would be nice of you.” He chuckles at your bitterness, holding onto your hands; “Y/N.. I love you to the moon and even farther.. I couldn’t imagine life without you. So.. Will you.. be my.. s/o?” He asks awkwardly and you nod eagerly. “Yes! A hundred times yes!” You say enthusiastically and lean in for a kiss, a more sweet one than the one you had last night. Those were some sleepy kisses.

Champagne Problems: Agatha Harkness/Agnes x Fem!reader
Masterlist
Based on Taylor Swift’s song “Champagne problems”
Summary: You loved her too early, she loved you too late, will she be able to change things and make amends for what she did?
Words: 4.7k+
Warnings: Angst but in the end is pure fluff
Author’s notes: Hi again!
So, I changed a little bit the original story:
In this one Agatha left the coven before the other witches could do something to her.
F/N means fake name in the story,
This was one of the first stories I wrote three years ago, I had posted them on Tumblr on my old account, but due to my mental health, I had to take a break from Tumblr and the toxicity and hate that had suddenly increased, I deleted all of my stories and my old account, now I have decided to upload them again here on Tumblr and also on Ao3.
Again, as this was one of the first stories I wrote for Agatha Harkness is a little bit short, I will be uploading the rest of the stories from time to time, I have to edit them and make sure they are legible enough and with not a lot of grammatical errors.
I hope you like it! ♥️

If you enjoy, could you comment, like or reblog? it would help a lot really ♥️
You knew something was different, something had changed between Agatha and you, you were not sure why, you thought everything was perfect, but maybe you were immersed in how she made you feel, that you had forgotten about the way she felt. You were happy with her and deeply in love with her, you were lucky to have her, she was intelligent, strong, she could memorize pages of spells just by reading them once, she could cast powerful spells and she was the strongest witch in the coven, you doubted yourself, were you not good enough for her? No, that couldn’t be right? She had told you how much she loved you and how much she wanted to spend the rest of her life with you. But then, what had happened? She started to miss your reading dates at the misty forest, she stopped arriving unannounced at your room, she did not visit you like before, you were worried, what had happened?
Even when you went to her room and knocked on her door, hoping that she would open the door, it was never opened, you went from sleeping with her in her own bed to sleep alone in your cold room, you were hurt, but you didn’t know what to do, you wanted to talk with her, you were hoping she would tell you what have caused her change of attitude towards you, maybe you could work things out. Two weeks had passed since you had had a meal together, now you sat down alone at the common room eating your food, you didn’t know what was worse, feeling and being alone in a room full of people, watching how all of them talked to each other, happily enjoying their companies, some witches chattering happily with their group of friends, you also looked at some of the new couples that had formed over the days, you looked sadly at one couple that was sitting right in front of you, one of the girls had her arm around the other and the shorter one rested her head against her chest, you couldn’t stand the sight, it reminded you of how Agatha treated you before, you just felt so alone now.
You were not hungry so you decided to just go to the library, when you entered to the big room, you noticed a few witches sitting in the couch or in the chairs, all of them were silent, you looked for a book to read, passing your hand through the bookshelves and looking at the different titles, you chose a book that contained information about all the different types of plants, you smiled at the first time that you had met Agatha, it had been right here at this bookshelf, you needed the exact same book to study and when you were looking for it and found it, you took it out of the shelf and when you turned around ready to leave you bumped up against someone, it had been Agatha, it had been the best day of your life, she smiled at you apologizing, and you apologized too, you had told her you were not looking where you were going.
You stopped thinking about that day and automatically went to sit in the corner of the library where you and Agatha would always sit whenever you came to read. You tried to focus on the book in front of you, but you couldn´t, you felt as if your thoughts were louder, the room was almost silent, the other witches were reading silently and your thoughts wouldn’t stop, once again you didn’t know what to do, wherever you went, everything reminded you of your girlfriend. You had returned to your room after silently crying at the corner of the library, with puffy eyes from crying for a long time, you were now sitting in your bed, hugging your legs with your arms, you just wanted Agnes to hold you, you didn’t even know where she was. You were distracted from your thoughts by a repetitive knock on your door, you were confused, who could it be at this hour?
Slowly you got up from your bed, and walked towards the door to open it and when you opened it you were surprised, right in front of you was Agatha, standing there, her baby blue eyes looked tired and she had a weird expression you couldn’t decipher.
- “Can I come in? I need to tell you something important”- She had said to you in a rush, you were confused, you hadn’t seen her in days and now she appeared out of nowhere acting strangely, what was going on?
You let her passed to you room and she started to pace, she looked nervous, you slowly walked towards her, and you slightly touched her shoulder and she turned herself to look at you, her lip trembled, she closed her eyes for a second and when she opened them again you saw she was about to cry, Agatha took both of your hands in hers, she brought them to her lips and kissed the back of your hands.
-“I´m sorry Y/N, I´m sorry for not being here for you, I´m sorry for this, I didn’t mean things to fall like this, you have to believe me when I tell you that I love you, what I feel for you is real, but Y/N I have to leave, I can´t be here anymore, not with you”-
Your lips trembled, you wanted to say something, but you were lost for words, how could she? Why did she have to leave? You tried to think of something, what were you supposed to say after all of that? If she loved you as much as she has told you, why did she was leaving you?
- “Why do you say that? What is going on Agatha? What are you not telling me, you know you can trust me, I´m your girlfriend, we can work things out, we will figure it out, together”- You said smiling at her, giving yourself and her some hope, however you smiled vanished from your face when she chuckled. She dropped your hands and brought her hands to her face, then she walked to the corner of the room while looking at the ceiling.
- “I can´t be with you”- She blurted out without looking at you Why wouldn’t she look at you? You deserved an explanation, apart from feeling hurt and sad, you were a little bit annoyed and stressed out.
- “What do you mean? You can´t or you don’t want to be with me anymore? Say it to my face or at least give me an explanation, you disappeared for days, I was worried about you, I didn’t know if something had happened to you! And now you just come here and say this to me! Look at me at least, would you?”- You said to her almost yelling
She turned around hastily to look at you and threw her hands up, she looked exasperated - “I just can´t be with you anymore, it´s not safe, I need to go, I do not have time for this”- She was about to leave and walk past you but you grabbed her hand stopping her from walking outside your door, and looked at her almost pleading
-“I have loved you ever since I have known you Agatha, I couldn’t help it, I couldn’t help falling in love with you, and I tried to show it, and I´m trying to show it to you again, but you don’t let me, Agatha I need an explanation, give an answer because I can´t go on like this any longer-
- “I gave you everything of me I could, which is fine, I´m happy I did it, and I never complained because, because I figured you’ve loved me Agatha! I can´t love anyone else I only love you, is not enough for you? - Before you could keep talking, she interrupted you
-“ Stop, please stop, this is for the best Y/N we can´t be together anymore but I´m sure, you will find someone else, you will find someone to love and someone who will live and die for you, but I can´t, I can´t, not right now, I´m sorry Y/N”-
She left your room and passed by your side, your hand brushed a little against hers, she had left you there standing alone in you room staring at the floor the words that Agatha had told you had been echoing in your mind since the day she had left you, she didn’t give you a reason.
Years passed, and even after all these years, you never stopped thinking about her, you couldn’t forget about her, even though she broke you heart, you couldn’t stop loving her, you ended up leaving in Eastview it was a place where you could feel some magic in the place, maybe it was because years ago, a group of witches had lived there, and even after years you could sense the magic that emanated from the place. However all of that calm that you felt changed drastically when one day you felt something powerful and dangerous entering Westview, the feeling didn’t last longer, because before you knew, you found yourself dressed in a 50´s dress style, you tried to fight the different thought trying to enter into your head, but the force was stronger, whatever that was trying to control you was stronger than you, and in the end you couldn’t fight against that anymore.
When Agatha arrived at Westview sensing all the power coming from the little town, she already had a plan, she thought it would be something quick, enter the town, get to the source of power, and left town, it would be something easy. However, when she realized that the source of the magic was a person doing everything and not something else, she was perplexed how was possible that a witch like Wanda could contain all of that powerful magic. She had to play along in order to observe Wanda and how her magic worked, once she finally understood that Wanda had been playing everything as some type of sitcom, she realized Wanda had everyone under her mind control, so she had to act as if Wanda was controlling her
The 50 and 60 eras had already passed and now it was turn of the 70s era, Wanda´s twins were growing up too fast, and Wanda needed someone to watch over them for a night so she called you, now it was your turn to appear in Wanda´s life, you arrived at Wanda´s house ready to watch over the children. You found yourself walking towards Wanda´s house, wearing a plaid pleated skirt matching it with a white sleeveless stretch top and you had a neck scarf of the same color of your skirt.
You knocked on Wanda´s door, smiling Wanda opened her door and greeted you letting you enter her place.
- “Oh F/N, you’re a blessing, Vision and I need a night out, he made reservations and we need to be there in thirty minutes, if you need any help our neighbor will come here to help you, she has already watched over them twice but today she said she would not be available until later, that´s why we call you, actually if you want, she will come later and you could leave just in case you want to relax, I know my children can be a handful”-
- “Do not worry Wanda I will be watching your boys; we will play some board games and maybe we could even play hide & seek, I´m really good at it, and do not worry if your neighbor arrives I can still stay here, after all that´s why you called me, to help you and look after your children”-
You smiled kindly at her, she took you to the kitchen and started to show you around her house, she showed you the living room and the backyard, she told you that the kids were in her rooms getting ready to whatever activities you would do, out of nowhere she gave you some boardgames, you were confused, she didn´t have any when you turned to look at her kitchen right? Anyway, maybe she had them and you just hadn´t notice before, she handed you the Uno card game, the monopoly board game and a scrabble box, you smiled and thanked her. The kids came down from their rooms and greeted you, you played some matches of Uno, and after 30 minutes you decided to play the monopoly game, Billy was winning and you were in bankruptcy, after 40 minutes the kids got bore so you told them that you could play hide and seek, both of them agreed and nodded enthusiastically, you laughed at their excitement.
Your decided to hide under the kitchen´s table while Tommy counted, you saw Billy ran to hide in his bedroom, the three of you were immersed in your game of hide and seek, that none of you had noticed that someone had entered the house, you could heard Tommy saying -“Ready or not here I come”- you couldn’t help but giggle when Tommy passed running near the table and he hadn´t see you, you suppressed your laugh and closed your eyes, maybe he would be back a little bit later when he had found his brother.
Agnes had entered Wanda´s house, of course she decided to help Wanda, she was surprised when she heard that she was pregnant so the older witch tried to figure out how it happened, anyway she found the two children quite hilarious, when she knocked on Wanda´s door and nobody had answered she decided to used her magic to enter, by the time she entered she caught a glimpse of Tommy´s hair, and she heard what he had said, so she supposed they were playing, she closed the door, Agnes went straight to the kitchen to pour herself some water in a glass. Billy came running down the stairs giggling and shouting a name she had never heard “- F/N Tommy´s looking for us upstairs, we can win! You do not have to hide anymore”-
Agnes frowned, to whom was he talking? She was confused, she was going to ask Billy whom was he talking to, but when she heard a laugh, she stopped dead in her tracks, it sounded like your voice, it couldn’t be, images of the night she had left you alone, the night you had seen her go, it was the only thing she ever regretted, she had to let you, she didn’t have any other option, she had been playing with dark magic and t was dangerous for you, if the coven related you to her they would have hurt you, but the look of sadness that you had that day still haunted her, she would have loved to hold you close to her, but she had to it, she didn’t have any other option, years later when she could control her dark magic she tried to look for you again, but she couldn’t sense you, she thought that you had died, she couldn’t sense your magic and she regretted leaving you, she should have hold you close just as she used to do when you were in Salem. With tears in the corner of her eyes she followed the sound of the beautiful giggles, her heart was beating furiously, she bent down a little and with her right hand took the left corner of the square tablecloth, when she lifted it, she gasped, it was you, all these years she had thought that you were dead and now after grieving for you, you were right in front of her under a kitchen table, sitting on the floor and hugging your legs trying not to make any noise.
- “Y/N?” She called for you
You opened your eyes, in front of you was the most beautiful woman you had ever seen, her icy blue eyes were looking direct at you, you smiled and put your finger to your mouth and shushed her, you supposed this was the neighbor Wada had told you about, she couldn’t help but smile, despite the urge that Agnes felt to hold you and tell you how sorry she was and how much she loved you, she knew you were under Wanda´s mind control, she wanted so badly to wake you up, but if Wada noticed, she would kick you out of Westview, she decided to let you finishes the game with the boys, she had all the time to get near to you.
She went to the fridge to take the water and to try to calm herself, all of the memories, she wanted to spend the rest of her life with you, but because of her hunger for power had lost the most she cared for and loved. She completely forgot about her first plan, It was not worthy anymore she had found you again, and this time she would make things right, she was going to free you from Wanda´s control, and she was going to make you fall in love with her again, she was not going to lose you one more time. She was distracted from her thoughts when she heard one of the boys screaming and laughing, you had gone out of the table and were running behind one of them, her heart melted at the sight. She left her glass on the table and walked straight towards you, she gently touched your shoulder and you turned to look at her.
“Lovely to meet you dear, my name´s Agnes and I´m Wanda´s neighbor, how come I´ve never seen you before, I would remember seeing someone as breath-taking as you honey, you are beautiful”-
You couldn’t help but blush at her words, did she really mean every of that? She was so beautiful with her curly hair, you looked at her and you felt something, as if you had already seen her before
“My name´s F/N, and I´m babysitting Wanda´s children for tonight, you look quite familiar, but I haven’t seen you either” - You eyed her face a little bit longer and then just brushed the thought off, you would recall watching someone as pretty as her too.
After that day, Agnes would pop at your house from time to time, she would give you flowers, and you were surprised when she arrived at you house with a flower arrangement with your favorite flowers in it, she entered to your housed and left them on the table, you were excited, and you hugged her, she didn’t expected your reaction but she quickly passed her arms around your waist, you rested your head at the crook of her neck and she gave you a kiss on your forehead.
Whenever Agnes had the chance she would always help you, she had taken you to a library that you had never seen, it was as if it had popped out of nowhere right at the center of the town, you didn’t mind that fact, you were more than happy that Agnes would take you to different places you loved, how did she have known that you loved to read? It didn’t matter, Agnes completed you.
When you entered to the library you quickly went to look the bookshelves, you found one book about Plants and decided you wanted to read it, you showed it to Agnes and you swore she had smiled sadly, you asked her if she was ok, but she told you not to worry that she was just happy to be with you, smiling, you gave her a quick kiss to her cheek, and ran towards one couch, she touched where you had left the kiss, how she craved to touch you like before.
She followed you and saw you sitting in a couch, you had smiled at her an told her that both of you could sit there together, she had a different idea, she asked you to stand up, you obliged happily, and then she sat in the couch and she grabbed you by the waist and sat you on her lap, you blushed by her action but accommodated yourself in her lap, she hold you close to her with tight grip on your waist, you were resting against her chest while you read.
you enjoyed her company a lot, she would always compliment you, and you loved when she touched your hair, brushing away some strand off your face. You and Agnes started to go out more each day, one day she took you to a nice parlor scream, and you sat down at one of the tables talking for hours, from time to time she would touch your hand over the table, caressing your hand with her fingers, you tok her hand and intertwined you hand with hers, she winked at you and you smiled.
Agnes wanted more, she wanted to kiss you and touch you but she knew she had to wait and she was worried about what would happen once you woke up. But you’ll find the real thing instead, today you had invited Agnes over to your house, you had prepare a romantic dinner for both of you, you had fallen in love with her, you were head over heels for her and even though you were sure that she returned her feelings you wanted to tell her how you felt.
You lit some candles and waited for Agnes to arrive at your house, you decided to dress yourself up for the occasion, you put on a plaid pleated skirt, whenever you had one on, you always found Agnes staring no so subtly at your legs, and when you caught her she would wink at you.
You heard knocks on the door and you walked down the stairs to open the door. - “Hello Angel”- She greeted you, you looked at her and saw that she was wearing a purple sweater and black pants, and her hair was styled in a messy bun.
You were excited, you wanted to kiss her already, so before eating dinner you drag her to your couch, she sat down next you and she took your hands in hers, she was looking at you with so much love, and you were amazed by her.
- “You´re beautiful F/N”- Agnes said and she brought her had wo your face, you lent into her touch and closed your eyes, you were so in love with her
- “Agnes, I´m in love with you, I feel so good with you, you make me feel safe”-
Agnes gently lifted your chin to make you look at her, you smiled at her waiting for her to say something
-“ F/N, I´m in love with you too, I´ve been in love since I´ve known you, and believe me I feel I´ve known you my whole life, I know this may sound too rushed but, I want you to be with me, never leave my side again, I will make things right this time Y/N”-
You were confused what was she talking about? Before you could ask her you saw Agnes´ eyes glowing purple, you closed your eyes and memories of you real life came back at you, you remembered everything, since the day you met her at Salem, the day she left you, that time when you arrived to Eastview and also you remembered every single thing that had happened when you were not yourself, you opened your eyes only to look at Agatha again, she had tears streaming down her face and you had tears in your face as well, you looked at your intertwined hands, she never dropped your hand, you were shocked, but you remembered everything she told you, everything about making things right, Agatha was looking at you waiting for your reaction, and before she could ask you something you threw yourself at her, hugging her, you had missed her a lot, you world crumbled when she had left, but now she was back and she was offering you a new opportunity to make things right, you removed yourself from her and smiled at her, she knew right away that she would have another chance, she didn’t wait anymore, she captured your lips against her, it was kiss full of love and need, she had missed you, she had grieved you and now, she was not going to let you go, no this time, not ever.
-“I´m sorry Y/N, I should had given you an explanation, I was afraid of hurting you, I had been using dark magic, and I needed to learn how to control it, and if the coven knew you were with me, they could have hurt you, I had put you in danger, but I never stopped loving you, I won´t make the same mistakes, I need you with me you´re everything I need”-
She kissed you again, this time fiercely, she tightened her grip around your waist, and then she rested her hands on your hips, she brought you to her lap, when you needed to breathe again, you remove your face a little from her, to look at her baby blue eyes, she brought her hand to you hair, and brushed a strand of hair off you face.
You put your hand on her face, caressing her face
-“It´s ok Agatha I love you too, and I believe in you, I understand that you wanted to protect me now, It was awful to be left there alone but now, we´re here, together, we have a new opportunity, if it hadn´t been for Wanda creating this entire place, you would have never arrived, but not I´m here with you, so you now we do not have to worry, I love you and I will never stop loving you, no matter what”-
She was finally happy, she couldn’t ask for anything else, you were her everything, she hugged you again, stroking you hair with her left hand and her free hand caressing your back, you placed your head in the crook of her neck and played with some of the strands of her hair, finally after years of felling sad, you found yourself smiling once again, because of Agatha, you were happy that she was back, and she was happy as well for that.
Years ago she had told you, that you were going to find someone else to love you, and that someone else will fix your heart, but at the end she had been the one to fix your heart again, the same person who broke your heart in the past by her mistakes, was the same who was collecting the pieces now.
This time she would never leave you alone again, she would never drop your hand again because this time was the real thing.

Content: Tyler hernandez x reader
Summary: Tyler has been running errands for the whole day and just needs to rest for a bit
Warning(s): there's Tyler angst if you squint but this is just fluff, since it's my first post, I wanna be nice
A/n: the reader also goes to the phantom realm btw. This is my first post hope yall will like it! I kinda suck at writing though, but my requests are open if you feel like requesting, and if you do request it might be a while before I do it since I never know what school has in stock for me
Tyler had lost track on how long he had been running errands and chores for. He felt exhausted, and he still needed to study since mid terms were just around the corner. He sighed as he stared at the book and notebook infront of him.
Taylor went to Ash's place about 2 hours ago since they had a group project together. Tyler dropped his head on the desk and sighed, he let out groan and looked at the clock on the desk.
3:45
There was still a couple more hours before going back to the phantom realm. He didn't even realize that his eyes were closed until they shot open when he heard a knock on the door. He furrowed his eyebrows 'That's weird? Tay wouldn't be back in another hour or so' he stood up and opened the door to their shared bedroom.
Another knock was heard as Tyler mumbled some words under his breath "can't this person wait?" Another knock was heard and Tyler swore that if the person behind the door would knock one more time- "what?" all the anger that was bubbling in him faded as his face softened when he recognized the familiar face infornt of him.
"Hi Ty! Hope you dont mind me coming here without telling you" the girl let out a chuckle, and oh how Tyler would have loved to hear it again, it was like music to his ears a melody that he would chose to listen forever if he could "hope I didn't annoy you with knocking more than I should have" Little did she know that she did, but it was her so he didnt mind.
He stepped aside to let her in and closed the door once she was inside "before I went here I actually got some bread since I wanted to go to that new Bakery people were talking about, and I got us some cinnamon rolls to try!"
He watched her put the plastic bag on the dinner table as she took out the stuff she had bought. I raise my other eyebrow and looked at the different kinds of bread she was taking out "why did you get so many?" She responded with a simple 'hmn?' and put the plastic bag away once she took out all of the bread inside the bag.
I look back to Tyler once I put the empty plastic bag aside, and see him holding one of the loaf bread that i had bought. He lift his head up and looked at me as he rose both of his eyebrows waiting for an answer from his question, I let out a small chuckle as I went back to the dinner table "I wasn't planning on buying three, my original plan was to buy some cinnamon rolls and a plain loaf bread, but thenn"
He looked at me as I took the loaf bread out of his hand and took the other one from the table "I saw that they had different flavors" I lift my right hand and showed him, as if then - and only then he realized that the loaf breads didn't look the same "this one is purple yam and this one is cheese" I smiled at him as he shook his head.
"You still shouldn't have bought so many" I watch him pull a chair out for himself and sat down, as he dropped his head on the table, I cringe as I heard his head hit the table. I put the loaf breads down and walked to his side "You okay Ty?" I asked as I sat on the table and played with his hair.
Ever since his dad passed, he was responsible of taking care of his mom and sister he became the head of the house running errands and doing chores, all at such a young age, he was probably used to it but - he was still human. He eats, sleeps and breathes, he was no boy with super powers, he was just a child. A child that needed to be protected to be kept safe. He went through so much at such a young age, he didn't deserve any of that.
"How about we go sleep for a while hmn?" I continue to play with his hair as I wait for his response "we still have a few more hours before we go back to the phantom realm" He lift his head from the table and stared at me with tired eyes.
My eyes softened and my heart ached, it hurt to see him like this, I just wanted to hug him tight and tell him how much of a good job he's doing staying so strong for his family. He pulled me closer as he hugs my waist and rests his head on my lap, we stay like that for a few minutes in comfortable silence as I continue to play with his hair.
"Let's go to your room so you can properly rest hmn?" He squeezed my waist then let go as he lift his face from my lap, I hop off from the table and as if on que when Tyler was about to stand up from his seat, his stomach let out a sound.
...
I look at Tyler and laughed, he looked away clearly embarrassed of what just had happened "okay, okay - maybe you should eat first then we can go sleep" I took the four cinnamon rolls that i got earlier and went to the kitchen counter "do you want to try the cinnamon rolls now or do you want me to make you a sandwich?"
He stood up and walked up to me "sandwiches are fine" I smile at him and went to put the cinnamon rolls in the fridge "you can go sit down I'll make the sandwich" He rose an eyebrow at me and I scoff "goo, shooo" he let out a chuckle as I push him to go sit down.
I grabbed a plate from the cabinet to put the sandwich on and then took the plate and walked to Ty "here" I smile at him and placed it down, I pulled a chair out next to him and sat down - I looked back to Tyler and he looked at me with confusion on his face "what?" He made a face that said I had the nerve to ask him 'what?' "You didn't make one for yourself?"
I smile and lightly shook my head, to think he doesn't get the hint that I want to take care of him, that all he has to do right now is rest yet, he still cares and asks why I didn't make myself one "not hungry, I eat a few chips before I went here" He looked at me for a moment like he didn't want to believe me or was about to protest that I should eat.
"Ya know, you're making me look like I'm a greedy boyfriend that wouldn't care if their partner were starving"
I let out a dramatic gasp "I am not!" He smirks and I gave him a playful smile and rolled my eyes "just eat" he started eating as we told eachother about our day, well mostly me but I knew he didn't mind.
Once he was finished eating I took his plate and went to the sink to wash it, while I was washing the plate I'm the corner of my eye he leaned on the counter with his arms crossed as he watched me do such a simple task "what?" He gave me a soft smile and said nothing, I rinse off the soap on the plate and put it in the rack "Alright let's go?"
We went to Tyler and Taylor's shared bedroom as he went in and went to the upper bunk bed, I close the door and went up aswell, I crawled to the other side as he opened his arms as I went to lay down beside him, I let out a sigh as I close my eyes slowly drifting off to sleep.
"Thank you for making me a sandwich" he said softly almost a whisper as he pulls me closer, I hum in response as sleep overtakes the both of us.

hey girllll can u do billie eilish x singer! reader
Keep it Professional
|| Billie Eilish x singer!fem!reader
|| Warnings; reader with wine, short drabble
|| Summary; billie meets reader at an awards show and finds herself swooning.
Requests open!
Started; october 2nd
Finished; october 3rd
~~~
Billie Eilish found herself on the red carpet for yet another awards show, surrounded by cameras and flashing lights. She held herself with confidence as she posed and smiled, sending a few playful winks. Though she couldn't help but notice the whispers from other attendees. They always whispered, but this time the name caught her attention. They were talking about you, a rising star in the music industry who had made a name for yourself with your powerful vocals, unique sounds, lyrics and music videos. Billie had been a fan of your music for a while now, admiring your talent and charisma from afar. She wondered if she would get the chance to talk with you tonight as she entered the building.
You were already there, well situated with a glass of wine that you took occasional sips from. Your eyes darted around, admiring all the celebrities from afar. Some would come and talk to you, you'd humour them with conversation but really there wasn't any in particular you wanted to speak to. Until your eyes landed on Billie Eilish. Who seemed to have just arrived. You smiled to yourself, you'd always had a crush on the star. Even before you'd gotten into the music industry yourself; you never mentioned it in interviews... but she'd been your inspiration. It showed in some of your music videos and some of your more die hard fans had figure that out, so there was a rumour about it. But you let it stay a rumour, never confirming or denying it if people asked. You usually just say something like 'I leave it up to the people's interpretation'.
Billie scanned the room, hoping to catch a glimpse of you. What she didn't expect was to make direct eye contact with you. Apparently, you'd already been looking in her direction; which made her cheeks flush. She noticed you were standing alone, she thought that to be a little odd. Given that your rise is music was right up there with people like Taylor Swift. She watched you take another sip from your wine glass, trying to work up the courage to go speak with you.
Before she knew it, her legs were carrying her in your direction; and then... she was right in front of you. Damn, you were even prettier in person. Billie seriously hoped she wouldn't make a fool of herself talking to you," hey, Y/N. Right?"
You nodded, feeling a flutter go through you as Billie Eilish stood before you. You hoped you wouldn't make a fool of yourself in front of her," Yeah. It's nice to finally meet you, Billie." You tried to keep things causal, not wanting to give hints to your internal raging fangirl.
"Likewise," She smiled at you. God her smile," Your music's incredible, it's been all I've been listening to lately."
Your smile mirrored hers, now really hoping you were keeping thing's professional. The Billie Eilish listens to your music? Your finger subtly but rapidly tapped the side of your wine glass, a nervous habit," thank you. That means a lot."
The rest of the night seemed to flow with a practiced ease, you and Billie staying with each other through it all. Rambling off one another in conversation, laughing and smiling. Mutual crushes growing all the more. Much to the other's blindness.
After the awards were presented (with both you and Billie getting at least one), she found you again as you were about to leave.
"Y/N! Hold on!" She called out, practically running to you. You turned and looked at her with a smile.
"Billie! What is it?" You replied, glad that she had come to talk to you again.
"Can we keep in touch? I really enjoyed tonight," She asked, her cheeks flushed as she looks at you.
You smiled and nodded," of course. I'll put my number in your phone."
She seemed to easily hand you her phone without second thought; you gave her your number and she thanked you.
Little did you know, that in just a few weeks time she would take you on a date.
every dead end street led you straight to me
wc: 2.1k
cw/tags: established relationship, first meeting, creepy guy at a club but he doesn't get very far because of unofficial bodyguard™ satoru, mostly just fluff and taylor references, little fun surprise at the very end in case it wasn't tooth-rotting enough
note: hi anon!!! first off, i'm so sorry this took so long to complete; i literally love aotgylb and so i was a little stumped for how to write this because it's just,,,,so him. i love him. i love taylor. i hope you love this lol. enjoy!!!
likes, reblogs, and replies are appreciated!
“I really wish I found you sooner.”
“How so?”
“I wouldn’t have needed all that dumb shit with other girls if I knew you were waiting for me. All the lame fights, feeling alone even when I wake up next to someone. That dumb shit.”
“Who said I wasn’t doing dumb shit too?” You look at him with a sleepy smile, warm despite the biting chill of the early morning air. "You couldn't fathom how many boys I was crying in the bathroom about."
"Do you remember their names?"
"Of course not." While you press against the personal heater that is your boyfriend, the long-awaited sunlight starts to touch the very tips of the mountains before you. “You remember my first boyfriend, don’t you?”
“Mmm, yeah. The one from Kyoto that dropped out ‘cause he couldn’t stand being weaker than his partner,” he recalls. “He’s also the ugliest of your exes; it’s hard to forget him when I almost exorcized him before I met you.” You burst out laughing at the memory and a puff of your breath appears in front of your face. Satoru follows suit, exhaling a long breath and making boyish dragon noises. “See, aren’t I so much better?”
“Yes love, no one can compete with your dragon impressions,” you tease. With a shiver, you wrap your coat tighter around your body. “I won’t lie, though. My ass is freezing.”
“I was just about to say that,” he agrees, shifting uncomfortably on the stone bench. Even with the several layers of thermal long sleeves, jackets, and gloves, the winter weather seemed adamant on giving you frostbite. “Remind me to never suggest a sunrise hike ever again.”
“But isn’t it romantic? Freezing our asses off and shit-talking our exes?”
“I would not enjoy this if I was with anyone else,” he concludes. “That’s all I’ll say about that.”
“Fine, then go back to that other thing, the one about finding me sooner.”
“Oh, that?” He pauses for a moment, jutting his lips to the side in deep thought. Spots of gold start to catch on his bright white hair, strikingly similar to the snow crunching under your boots. “I was just thinking how much time I wouldn’t have wasted if I simply found you sooner.”
“What do you mean, ‘found me?’”
“I was searching for someone, you know, and I didn’t know what I wanted until I met you.” The corner of his mouth quirks as a memory pops into his mind. “Even though you hated me.”
“I did not hate you,” you argue in vain since you did, in fact, hate him when you first met him. In need of a new partner after your boyfriend (the ugly one, Satoru notes) fell ill the night before a mission, you considered feigning sickness yourself when you saw who the higher ups assigned. It was easier, logistically, to slap on the most powerful asset they had on a mission where a sorcerer dropped out, but it didn’t make him any less annoying when he picked you up at the airport. It was before the days of his current blindfold, when he wrapped strips of white linen over his eyes during the times he opted for no sunglasses. You’d be lying if you said it didn’t unnerve you, the way he navigated through the airport crowds as if his vision wasn’t impeded in the slightest. The aura that he emanated was intimidating and one of sheer power, but the goofy smile and melodic voice contradicted any assumptions you made about the strongest being alive.
“Gojo Satoru?”
“That’s me. I like it when you say my name,” he drawls and you make a quiet gagging noise in your throat.
“Please don’t ever say that again,” you say, walking in a random direction where you hope the driver is parked. To your embarrassment, you turn around to see him standing in the same spot, a smug grin on his face and a thumb pointing in the opposite direction. “I thought I read the lot was this way,” you mutter in irritation while he falls into step next to you.
“Oh, it was,” he affirms and you stop mid-stride. The shit-eating expression on his face only grows wider when he senses your increasing annoyance. “But there’s a dango stand over here and you look like you could use a snack.” He was right, of course, but you didn’t admit it until much later in your relationship. The first twelve hours with him were painfully awkward, to say the least. You shoved dango in your mouth to avoid answering any questions about yourself and stared out the dark window of the car while he snuck glances at you in the backseat. After dropping your stuff at the hotel and slipping into nicer clothes, you walk out onto the crowded street to find Satoru waiting in a sleek-looking suit that would have the girls back home fainting on the spot. He opens the door with a flirty remark that you immediately tune out and you recheck the Cursed Tools in your clutch while he slides into the seat beside you.
“You know your role?”
“I’m a wealthy businessman gunning for the weapon with the blue handle,” he states confidently.
“Green handle, not blue.”
“What’s the difference?”
“One of them has an eons-old Curse stuffed into its hilt…and the other is blue.” He makes a small noise of amusement in his throat and you feel yourself relax a little bit more. “I’ll camp out at the bar and wait for the owner to make a move. Apparently, he’s the type to bite pretty easily if he sees something good-looking and alone. When he’s distracted, you grab the weapon. Got it?”
“Clear as crystal,” he says, swiping his tongue over his top lip absentmindedly. A serious look washes over his face, something in his head making his eyebrows draw together. “What if the guy starts getting handsy with you?”
“I’ll…handle it,” you reply slowly, slightly confused as to why he cares. “Just get the weapon, Gojo. You can stall or kill time however you want before that, but we don’t have the luxury of being able to make a mess.”
“Easier said than done,” he says quietly, “So, no promises.”
It turned out that making messes was simply a part of Satoru’s daily routine. Perched on a bar stool and barely nursing a weak drink, you clearly saw what his idea of killing time was. Lean arms stretched over the back of an overstuffed corner booth in a corner of the club, pulling several nice-looking women into his side while they giggled in his lap. He’d swapped the strips of linen for an expensive pair of sunglasses and he peered over the rim at regular intervals to keep an eye on you. It made your heart pang just a little bit, seeing him easily attract girls to him like a magnet in a paper clip factory. There was no doubt that Gojo Satoru was attractive, yet every doubt existed in your mind as to whether you would ever have a chance with him. You didn’t mean to look so mopey and sad at the counter, but it seems to play to your advantage when the owner of the weapon creeps over with a sinister smile on his face.
“Hello, dear,” he purrs and it takes all of your willpower not to slap him for looking at you like a pretty thing. “Nothing is sadder than a beauty at the bar, all alone.”
“And what were you going to do about it?” You drop the volume of your voice to an enticing volume, looking up at him through your eyelashes.
“Inject a bit more excitement into your evening,” he replies daringly and the insinuation makes you nauseous. “That man, with the glasses? He broke your heart?” He leans on your shoulder and looks in the direction of your partner, the one who was supposed to be grabbing the weapon while you were busy being ogled by this narcissist. “You need to watch out for men like him, throwing around money and women like they’re of no value. Both have value. You have value.” Great, you groan in your head, he’s gross and a hypocrite, too.
“I wouldn’t say broke it,” you murmur mysteriously. “More like, doesn’t deserve it.”
“You’re feisty,” he observes. “I’m incredibly attracted to it.” Shit. On pure instinct, you feel your Cursed Energy flare up as his hand roams dangerously close to your thigh, sliding down your arm with a clammy palm. Despite not being a sorcerer, you know he feels the energy shift when his eyes dart up to yours not with lust, but suspicion. By some stupid twist of Fate, you’d blown your own cover. The weapon owner’s hand suddenly tightens around your wrist, chaining you to the bar counter.
“Let go of me,” you order, completely rid of the stupidly airy voice and naive smiles.
“What did you just–”
“My love, we’re leaving.” Elegant fingers effortlessly pry the man’s hand from your skin and toss them aside like garbage. You find your coat gently draped around your shoulders, and only then does he guide you up and away from the bar, with the weapon owner still gawking in his stool. Somewhere between your Cursed Energy flaring and the man grabbing your wrist, Satoru must have left his posse of gorgeous women to pull you out of your present situation. “Good?”
“Yeah,” you mutter, slightly embarrassed that he had to come in and save you. “Thanks for doing that, even though you had to leave your girlfriends.”
“Of course. They never mean anything to me, nor do I mean anything to them,” he replies and it sounds genuine, without any sort of mockery or indication that he was holding it above your head. With one arm still wrapped around your shoulders, he calls the valet to retrieve the car and you find that you don’t mind him holding you close. “Nice play with the energy flare-up, by the way. That was really smart.”
“What do you mean?”
“Smoking out the weapon’s energy signature by making it butt against your own?” He shakes his head in disbelief, city lights catching in the lenses of his glasses. “Absolute genius.”
“I…didn’t mean to do that,” you admit and he peers at you out of the corner of his vision. You didn’t know it yet, but to him, you looked prettier than any of the women he was surrounded by inside the club. “It was an accidental reflex when the guy went for my leg.”
“Want me to kill him?” You chuckle, but it dies away when you see the cold expression on his face, nothing like the playful and warm persona you’d just been speaking to. “Say the word and I’ll blow the place to pieces.”
“We’re not supposed to make a mess, remember?”
“And I said no promises, remember?” He helps you into the passenger’s seat with a gentlemanly hand, shutting it after you before settling into the driver’s seat. “Either way, I got the weapon. It was in the guy’s pocket, not in the safe like we thought it would be. But, more importantly, you got out of that creep’s vicinity.”
“I appreciate you looking out for me.”
“Anytime, pretty.”
“Don’t call me that,” you say firmly and he looks at you curiously. “What?”
“Why not?”
“I’m not interested in being your arm candy; I’m not that type of person.” He pauses for several long moments, stuck in deep thought.
“I didn’t realize I was the type of person to have arm candy,” he states quietly, like it was an epiphany as he pulled away from the club’s valet curb.
“Something must be wrong with one of your Six Eyes, then, if you truly believe that,” you chuckle, trying to make the mood a little lighter. Yet, he’s still staring straight ahead with a frown on his face and a draw between his eyebrows. It was unsettling, to say the least. “Hey, I really didn’t mean any offense–”
“Let me try.”
“What?”
“Let me try,” he repeats with absolute determination. The streetlight casts his face in a dangerous shade of red.
“Try…what?”
“To win you over. Teach you what forever feels like,” he answers and your head feels like it’s been submerged underwater, all noises suddenly becoming muddy and irrelevant. “Show you that I don’t think you’re just eye candy.”
“What the hell are you playing at, Gojo?”
“I’m just tryin’ to show you that I’m not the playboy you have in your head,” he argues and it makes your cheeks heat. “Let me try. If I fail, I’ll go bald or something. Sorcerer's honor.” You burst out laughing, shaking your head in disbelief but feeling comfortable enough to take him up on the offer. Now, a few years and zero bald heads later, you were freezing your ass off with the man of your dreams on a mountain at six in the morning.
Somehow, you both felt like you’d won the bet when he pulled out that box from his pocket and got down on one knee.
tolerate it - k. mbappe
prompt: when has your relationship become so low?
warnings: toxic!mbappe, cursing, arguments, fighting, mostly angst, grammar issues, subtle fluff at end (not much)
credits to owners for all images
your relationship with mbappe has been going on for a solid two years. the silence and distance have never been bigger. the gap was starting to turn both of you crazy. during dinner, it would be silent as he read and ate. you sat and watched him ignore you.
has his career grown so much that he doesn’t care about you anymore? you try your best with him. you cook for him, set the table for him, you clean for him.
but he only tolerates it.
was there something wrong? you weren’t sure. there was no type of communication with him. if you tried, he would shrug you off. you always continue to think you weren’t good enough for him. you use to listen to whatever he said. it was always going to be about him.
“kylian, how was your day today?” you cut your potatoes with shaky hands. this was the first time you attempted to have a decent conversation with him. and you weren’t going to stop until more then 10 sentences are said.
it was fine.” he continued to read and scroll on whatever he’s looking at on his phone.
you cleared your throat. he didn’t even ask how you were. or comment on how good the food was, or how bad it was. he just tolerated it. no feelings were ever expressed from him.
“yeah, my day was also fine. do you like the new plates? i changed it up to the fancy shit.” you smiled a little bit, hoping to see him glance up at you for once. he was only tolerating it.
he did a small ‘mhm’ and kept eating.
“how’s the food?” your legs started bouncing. this wasn’t going up to plan.
he sighed in annoyance. “what’s going on with you today? you’re talking so much. just shut up and eat, okay? no need for all of this.” he finally fully talked to you. he finally looked at you. although, this was different. he looked and talked to you in the worst way possible.
you looked down at your food. your eyes started to blur from the water wanting to burst out. you bit your lip to stop it from quivering.
his ego was getting to him. he was always known as the famous kylian mbappe, but where were you in his story? he lifted you up to show the world how much your support means to him. now, you were just like a random person who he happened to know. someone who was always going to be viewed as under his power and control.
where was the old mbappe? the one who held you while you were cold. the one who fed you soup while you were sick. the one who protected you from all the danger. this mbappe only tolerated your love and his love was no longer existent for you. he was gleaming and glistening in the world, while you were just an accessory that didn’t seem to match.
“y/n. you didn’t answer my question. what the fuck happened today? why all of a sudden you want to be quiet?” his words were like fire. you were a glacier, melting and disappearing as the fire kept going. his ‘love’ is intolerable.
“nothing happened.” you sat up and collected your dishes. you walked to the kitchen as kylian followed you. as you put your dishes in the sink, he grabbed your arm.
“just answer already. you’re playing so hard to get. all of this shit is so unnecessary.”
you looked at him in disbelief. your eyes were losing at suppressing the tears. “have i done something wrong to you? you barely talk to me anymore. kyky, you’re losing me. your words are like daggers in my chest. i know my love should be celebrated. you only tolerate it. i can’t do this anymore. i’ve made too many sacrificed to only dismiss me every single day.”
he looked at you confused. “no, you didn’t do anything. it’s all my fault. i know i’ve changed and i’m sorry. time has been slipping away and this season has been so stressful. i appreciate you so much, i can’t express it enough. these past few days have been rough.”
“please tell me i’ve got it all wrong.”
he placed you on the counter and attempted to wipe all of your endless tears off. “yeah, you’ve got it all wrong. i will always include you in the story of my life. believe me, i could do it.”
Bring me a dream pt. 1
Pairing: Aleksander Morozova/general Kirigan x fem! sun summoner! reader Summary: Everyone has their soulmate—someone they are meant for. This was due to Sankta Maradaia, who decided to connect two souls destined for each other during their sleep to show them their other half, Sankta also sent them a tattoo of their loved one name, so that souls thirsting for each other can finally be united. Aleksander never had even one, short dream about his soulmate. Just a tattoo that has taunted him for ages. The Darkling believes this is his punishment for creating the fold, another privilege of being condemned. To never know his soulmate. But one day, a dream about a sun summoner comes to him. Someone equal to him. Someone meant for him. And he promises himself to find you at all costs. Not just because of your powers. Nonsense from me: This is an request from @morrigan-crowmwell I hope you like it! 💙🖤 P.S. I know it took me soooo looong again and I'm so sorry. I'm trying to fight my writer's block. 😅 I used a quote from Taylor Swift's Blank Space. Inspired by the song Mr. Sandman - SYML Wairning(s): mentions of blood, abuse, fighting, violence Word count: 6,7k Taglist: @aoi-targaryen @morrigan-crowmwell ~•♤♤♤•~ Aleksander Morozova's Masterlist ~•♤♤♤•~
I've been waiting a long time to meet you in my dreams…
"My soulmate is great! I've seen her fight with a REAL sword! Can you imagine that, guys?! My father still teaches me on that wooden. Ugh! I envy her so much."
"Mine swims faster than either of you! Of course, he's not as good as me, but I've seen him shoot a bow. What I'd give to join him on a hunt!"
"And you, sahdow-boy? You sit more quietly than usual, don't be shy! Show off what she or he is like."
Aleksander tensed up, feeling the other boys' eyes on him. The young shadow summoner felt a blush of shame appear on his face. He hated such conversations. He already couldn't fit in with a group of other kids, and he was constantly reminded that he was different. Weirdo. Proteus.
"I… I haven't dreamed of her yet. But I know her name!" he tried to reply in a tone of voice that mimicked their enthusiasm. He couldn't show them that he was weak. That the fact that he had never seen his soulmate before hurt him. That he was a changeling again.
"My father also started dreaming about my mother late. Maybe she just wasn't born yet?" his only friend put a hand on his shoulder, trying to comfort him. He thanked the saints for Ivan. He was a light in his darkness for now. And heartrender wasn't talking about his shadows at all...
"Did you hear, guys?! Shadow-boy will be dating a baby!"
Aleksander was furious. He felt anger rise up in him as the other children laughed at his soulmate. Without knowing when, he summoned his shadows and plunged the clearing into darkness, stopping the laughter of the other children.
"Hey, take it easy, shadow-weirdo! We're just kidding!"
"The freak, as usual, can't control himself."
Voices came out of the darkness, and the footsteps of children receding were all Aleksander could hear before he was alone with his shadows again.
Even Ivan's hand disappeared from his shoulder as shadows blanketed the area.
He was utterly alone. And he hated it.
You looked at yourself in the mirror, smiling.
18 birthday. Your big day.
You adjusted the necklace your grandmother had given you around your neck, proudly displaying the amulet with your birthstone. Your mother's earrings hang proudly from your ears. Nostalgia is starting to get to you. You so wish she were here.
"I've lived in this world for so long that, for ages, I've felt that time moves infuriatingly slowly. But ever since you came into the world, I've felt it slip through my fingers. You've grown up so fast... you look like your mother." the woman sighs as she stands behind you in the mirror and looks at you tenderly, fixing your braid.
"I wish a madraya was here." you say sad. Grandma puts a hand on your shoulder and turns you around to look her in the eye.
"She is here, my sun. In our hearts and memories. As long as you can picture her before your eyes, she will always be with you. Watching you from heaven." you both stand in silence, remembering your recently deceased mother.
"I have something for you." the woman speaks as she pulls a beautiful gold bracelet engraved with your family symbol from her sleeve.
"Oh, grandma, you didn't have to… it's beautiful."
"And practical. Materialnik made it specially for me. Thanks to this, no one will see THAT on your wrist."
"Why should I hide it?" you ask, confused, when she helps you fasten the bracelet on your wrist where was your soulmate's name on it.
"I want you to be careful."
"Careful of what?"
"Powerful men." she replies seriously, stroking your cheek tenderly. "There is nothing worse in the world than the greed of men. Than their excessive ambition. We are the sun summoners, honey. You are my blood, my pride, and my only solace in this world. The love of men is fatal. You don't need it, and trust me, you don't want it. Promise me for your dead mother and my daughter..." your grandmother grabbed your wrist, turning it so you both could see that the black ink, that showed up this morning, disappeared. Aleksander Morozova. "Do not seek him. Avoid him. Treat him like the plague. Do not repeat the fate of your poor mother. I couldn't stand losing you because of another man's lust for power."
"I promise you, babushka. I will not share my mother's fate." you promise with tears in your eyes. Your mother trusted the wrong person... you were not going to repeat her fate.
"And you will always wear a bracelet and necklace from me?"
"Yes. I promise." you solemnly promise, while looking into her eyes. You two were one of a kind. Summoners of the sun. Long-lived. Powerful. You have to stick together if you want to survive in this cruel for Grishas world. "Can I go now and enjoy the summer solstice festival?"
"Yes. Have fun, sunshine. And return home no more than two hours after dark!" she screams after you as you run to get some freedom... to forget who you are for a while.
"That boy keeps staring at you!" your friend shouts through the crowd of people having fun and nods her head at the boy by the fire.
You glanced at the side she indicated. She is right. A handsome brunette with dark eyes looks straight at you. He looks away when he sees you noticing him and pretends to be talking to the boy next to him. You roll your eyes at your friend's behaviour and continue drinking your beer.
"And what do you think I'm supposed to do about it?"
"Go and have fun!" she says, offended that you don't know. "I've known you since you came here. You haven't had a single boyfriend, you're shooing all the suitors away. You're 18. Go and flirt with him, or I'll take care of this handsome one."
You are laughing at her words. You look at the boy again, and you can't deny that you feel a strange pull… a bond that wants you to come to him. But you don't listen to it.
"So take him. I'm going home," you say as night falls completely. The flame of the torch and bonfire is the only source of light.
"Really? Will you waste an opportunity like this?" you just laugh with a shrug at her words and make your way to the path through the woods leading to your house, pushing your way through the crowd of people.
You leave the clearing where the festival is taking place and enter the forest. You sigh with relief to be alone, away from people's voices. You walk confidently into the darkness without being afraid of it as you watch the stars above you.
You are walking down a familiar path when suddenly you hear the crunch of leaves and branches behind you. You turn slowly with your hand close to the hidden dagger at your hip.
You see in front of you the same boy who was staring at you by the fire. You watch him warily, waiting for his move.
He takes one slow step towards you, his dark eyes never leaving yours. Without knowing why, you stare spellbound into his eyes again, unable to utter a word. It's only when he crosses halfway between you that common sense returns to you and you raise a dagger in his direction.
"Don't worry. I won't hurt you." he says, stopping and staring at the blade glistening in the moonlight. "Of course, only if you don't hurt me either."
"Why are you following me?" you ask without lowering your weapon, still holding it as a warning between you two.
He frowns, looking from the dagger to you. "I have no bad intentions. I saw you going this way and this forest… is not the safest place."
"I know. Nowhere is safe." you reply coldly, eyeing him carefully. "Which doesn't answer my question. Why did you follow me in here?"
"I wanted to make sure you made it through safely." you snort, amused, not for a moment believing the stranger's concern for you. He stays where he is, not moving for a moment, undaunted by your reaction. If anything, curiosity only grows in his eyes. "You haven't experienced much kindness from others, have you?"
"I'm not going to answer a stranger's question like that. You do not know anything about me."
"I can see you're too distrustful, and if the lack of trembling in your dagger hand tells me something, it is that you've threatened someone more than once."
"That's right… shouldn't you run as far away from me as possible, then?" you ask, raising an eyebrow at him as you watch his impassive reaction…but you certainly didn't expect him to raise the corners of his… pretty mouth in response.
"I'd rather walk you out and make sure you're okay... or anyone who dares stand in your way." you bite your lip, holding back a smile so you don't react to his teasing.
"I doubt you'd be able to do anything."
"I'm tougher than you think." he says, answering your challenge with a mischievous smirk. The sparkles in his dark eyes shine in the moonlight… and you involuntarily agree with your friend. He was handsome… and dangerous.
"I don't need a man to play my prince on a white horse. I can be my own knight."
"Well, if you want my opinion…" you cut him off before he could finish.
"No, thank you. I have my own." he laughs at your words, shaking his head in amusement as he licks his lips.
He stares at you intensely, and you know that if you were anyone else, you would have pounced on him by the campfire. But you were a sun summoner. You couldn't trust someone like that. Even if you wanted to...
"Very well then... but, I'd feel better walking you through the woods at least. May I?" he asks, extending his hand towards you. "Or are you too afraid that you will enjoy my company?"
You snort, placing your hand in the crook of his arm. You could have let him. Clearly, he has had no ill intentions so far. You glare at him defiantly as you see a spark of amusement in his eyes and a wild smile on his lips.
"What?" you ask dryly.
"Nothing. I just thought you couldn't look prettier… you seem to glow even more when you prove people wrong."
"I'm too smart to be seduced by you." you warn him, looking at him carefully as he tucks a strand of your hair behind your ear. You feel your cheeks blush slightly.
"Maybe that's why I'm so drawn to you?" he asks, whispering, staring into your eyes.
You're drowning in the moment. His smell, the depth of his dark eyes… and without knowing why, the feeling is… actually the opposite of what you felt when others tried to flirt with you.
"Careful... you've stared into my eyes for too long to say you don't care." he says, sparks of malice appearing in his eyes. You snort and are about to respond to his taunt when his expression suddenly cools and he pulls you into his chest.
You're about to yell at him and attack him when suddenly an arrow flies right over where you used to stand. You recognise its distinctive arrowhead. "Drüskelle." you whisper.
You don't waste time. You back away from him and grab your daggers. You can't show the world what power you wield, so you limit yourself to melee combat. You're also not sure if your companion is Grisha.
You kill the first of them, and next to you, you hear the sounds of your companion's fight. He's doing fine. You deal with most of the Drüskelle pretty quickly when suddenly one of them comes up behind you. Before you can engage, your companion pulls you back to his chest. You see nothing. He makes sure of it when you hear Drüskelle's desperate cry from behind you, who wanted to kill you as well as the others who managed to stay alive. Suddenly it's quiet again... but it's darker around you than before.
You gently pull away from him as he releases his strong grip on your hair. You look around, seeing Drüskelle's bodies as if they were… cut.
"I… how?" you ask, dumbfounded, not believing what you see. You turn your gaze back to him. "Are you a Grisha? Heartrender maybe?"
"It's... a little more complicated." he says, looking down at your hands and bloody daggers.
"I'm guessing you're not a Grisha, then?"
"It's a little more complicated." you say, repeating his words. He looks up and stares into your eyes again. Without knowing why, you both giggle. "I... thank you. I wouldn't handle them all alone."
"No problem." He says, still staring at you. Without knowing why, you lean towards him.
You swallow, smelling his scent again, involuntarily remembering the warmth and safety his arms gave you. You shouldn't feel that way about a stranger. And yet...
"I… I should probably go now."
"Me too." he whispers back, but you're both too hypnotised to move. Not thinking much about the bodies around you or the blood on your clothes.
For some strange reason, the eyes of the other and this closeness seem much more interesting to you both than the world around you.
He leans towards you too. A short distance separates you as you both stare at each other in silent anticipation and excitement. However, that moment is effectively cut short as you hear another movement around you.
You both draw your daggers and aim at where you heard the movement. There is a woman behind you. Her dark eyes are remarkably similar to those of your companion. You are surprised to see how his irises have already been etched into your memory.
"You find yourself a friend?" the woman asks him mockingly, staring at the two of you.
"I'm going, mother." he says, obviously waiting for her to leave. But she stands there, watching you curiously. He sighs in annoyance and turns to you. "See you soon." he whispers, placing his dagger in your hand.
You shiver at the skin of his hand on yours as unimaginable power rushes through you. But that's not what keeps you staring at him speechless… and you think you both know it as he gives you a wistful, longing look before turning away.
You can only stay there and stare at the receding silhouettes of the two of them. Then you are all alone again. You turn around and continue on your way home. With a small smile, you tighten your hand around the black dagger.
You were coming home to your grandmother. It was winter, and it was getting harder and harder to drive through the snow from town to your house. But someone had to do the shopping.
As you walked, you heard the sounds of a struggle. Interested, you veered off the path to the house and walked slowly through the snow, trying not to alert anyone to your presence.
You froze as you saw a group of teenagers fighting the same boy who gave you the dagger and helped kill Drüskelle.
The rational part of you told you to get out of there and not deal with this stranger. And you almost did, but then you saw one of the girls stab him in the back and shove him into the ice hole.
You threw the wicker basket with your groceries in the snow and ran towards them. You used your light and stunned them all into unconsciousness. Not enough to kill them, but enough to make their heads hurt for days and some of them lose their eyesight.
With your light, you melted the ice in the river and pulled the mysterious boy out of it by his shoulders.
You held him close as he coughed, spitting water into the snow. You only let him go when he's back to normal.
"Do you attract trouble, or do you just like getting into it?" you ask him with a laugh, trying to lighten the atmosphere. You take off his soaked coat and cover him with one of yours.
"Both, I'm guessing." he says, still shivering. You don't know if it's from the cold or from the attack.
"Get up. We need to keep you warm." you speak and help him stand on two legs.
If he notices the bodies of his unconscious tormentors, he decides not to say anything or ask how you did it. You pick up the basket you dropped earlier and guide both of you to your house.
Surprisingly, he doesn't protest when you enter the house, and luckily for you, your grandmother hasn't come back yet.
"Stay here for a while. I'll go get some dry clothes for you." I speak as I disappear into the other room for a moment.
"How did you overpower them?" you hear his question. You swallow and try to think of an answer as you walk back to the main room.
"It's... complicated." you reply, handing him the clothes. "You can go there and change. I'll put some water on for tea."
He nods and takes the clothes from you. He wants to say something, but instead he sighs and goes to the next room.
You place the kettle over the hearth and wait for the water to boil for tea for the two of you.
"Do you often save people from trouble?" he asks jokingly as he joins you. You smile when you see that he's feeling a little better. He still has a red nose, though. And you're pretty sure if you took his hand, he'd be icy.
"Selected only. Feel honoured." you snort, amused. His laugh makes you shiver. A strange warmth begins to spread from your chest.
"I am." he replies, looking deep into your eyes. He leans closer to you, examining you intently, searching for any reaction from me that would indicate that you are uncomfortable with him.
He finds nothing.
So he leans in a little more. Your noses brush against each other as he waits, giving you the option to either kiss him or pull away from him.
You feel your heart beating fast... you know that if he was a heartrender he would have leaned forward and kissed you a long time ago. You also know you should back off, he was a stranger, a man, you shouldn't trust him.
But after the look he gives you and a glance at his enticing pink lips, you lean forward and press your lips uncertainly to his.
His cold lips warmed up.
You close your eyes as he wraps his arms around you and pulls you closer with one hand on your waist and the other in your hair. You sigh, feeling how wonderful it feels, how proper it is to kiss him even though you don't even know his name. What's undeniable, however, is how great you feel around him.
But you feel something else… like an unimaginable amount of power flows into you with his touch. How your light calls for release. And for a moment, you feel like you're going to lose control if you keep kissing him.
Fortunately, before you stupidly reveal your powers, you pull away from each other, startled by the sound of a whistling kettle.
You both laugh, resting your foreheads against each other. You eventually pull away from him, take the kettle off the hearth, and shift your gaze to it. He's warmer from your kiss than from the fire.
You shift your gaze towards him. And experimentally, you take his hands in yours. You feel the surge of power buzzing through your veins again. Your gaze returns from his warming hands in yours to his irises, and you get lost in his dark eyes again.
"You... are the amplifier." you whisper as you look at him. "That's why they wanted to kill you... they wanted your bones."
He swallows, moves his gaze from your eyes to your joined hands. He doesn't take them out of your warm embrace as he nods, trembling without looking at your face.
"What are you going to do about it?" he asks, realizing full well that you must be Grisha to sense his ability.
The very idea that you, the only person who has shown him any kindness (not knowing him at all) will suddenly want to hurt him after what happened between you two a moment ago makes him sick.
But Aleksander has been through it more than once. Last an hour ago. Despite everything, he still holds a strong grip on your hands, trembling unconsciously.
Your response is to pull him close to you in a tender embrace.
"You're safe." you say simply, and from the way he holds his breath before burying his head in your neck after a few seconds of complete shock, you know that you must be the first person in a very long time to show him such affection.
And you're realizing that you don't need to know his name to know that it's good to hold him in your arms.
And Aleksander feels warm for the first time in a long time. He feels like he's holding the sun. But the most striking thought for him is that he is no longer alone...
"Is that all, General?" Ivan's question pulled Aleksander out of his thoughts. He stopped stroking the tattoo with his soulmate's name hidden under his kefta and glanced at the heartrender.
"Yes, you can go." he sighs, shifting in his chair and rubbing his eyes with his hand.
Ivan looks like he wants to say something but changes his mind at the last moment and leaves the war room, closing the door softly behind him.
Aleksander sighed, staring at the map in front of him. The king was going to bring down Ravka. Only his Grishas were able to hold Ravka's borders. He shuddered, thinking of all the good soldiers the Fjerdans, Drüskelle and others had taken from him. He felt powerless. And if he knew anything in his centuries-old life, it was that he hated that feeling.
He ran a hand through his hair, glancing at his watch on the wall. It was long after midnight. He sighed as he got up from his chair and walked towards his bedroom. He won't help his army if he's barely conscious. He took off his kefta and pushed the books to one side of the bed. He lay down in the free space and fell asleep as soon as his head rested on the pillow.
Something was different… otherwise, Aleksander could sense it the moment his dream began.
There was a strange feeling in his bones; his heart was beating much faster, excited, as if it couldn't wait for what was about to happen.
He was alone again in the deep black shadows. He took a step, and suddenly the shadows parted. He looked up and gasped as he saw a figure in a black-golden kefta in the distance.
He'd had that dream many times before… especially when he was a little boy. That he was irretrievably lost in the darkness.
He had never met anyone in the depths of his shadows before. He took another hesitant step towards the mysterious figure, not taking his eyes off it, afraid that it would disappear at any moment.
But it's not.
A figure in a gold-black kefta stood with its back to him.
Aleksander is afraid. He's afraid that it's just another trick of his mind, that as soon as he utters the name that has haunted him both asleep and awake for hundreds of years, you'll disappear, leaving him utterly alone in the darkness of his shadows again.
But Aleksander had been patient enough for a long time... maybe he could finally give in to what he most wanted, what he missed most, what he craved for like a foolish boy.
He came over to you. Hesitantly and slowly. As if he could spook you at any moment. He raised his hand, but instead of touching your arm, he met air as you took a step away from him and slowly turned to face him.
He held his breath in anticipation, waiting for you to pull down your gold-black hood to reveal your face to him. He watched in fascination as golden threads of light slowly began to flow from your hands.
He had been accustomed to the darkness for centuries. But he couldn't take his eyes off you as your threads of light slowly grew stronger. He watched in utter awe as your light changed from gold to pure white after dispelling the shadows around you two.
His eyes widened as your hood fell back to reveal your familiar, beautiful face. He sighed, letting out a long-held, shaky breath.
And when you took his hand, which he still held out to you, and ran your thumb over his palm? He completely lost himself in your irises, feeling your light grow stronger through its amplifying powers, enclosing the two of you in a silver and gold orb.
But before he gets a chance to reach out to you and caress your cheek tenderly, to feel again that warmth he always felt from you and which turned out to be your light, you suddenly disappear. And with you, your warm light.
His cold shadows enveloped him again…
He wakes up and finds himself in his bed, in his chambers. But for the first time in a long time, instead of being disappointed that he didn't dream of his soul mate this time, he's relieved. And happiness. Excitement. And something he's clung to so desperately all these centuries, much to his mother's taunt... he feels hope.
He doesn't know what has changed. Why suddenly did the saints decide to reveal your face to him after you had met so many centuries ago? For a moment, the bitter thought crosses his mind that he could have had you by his side much sooner. That together you could carry the weight of eternity... but he shakes his head.
He had a chance to implement all his plans now... and to meet his soulmate, whom he had missed for so many centuries. All he had to do was track you down.
And he's not going to lose.
"I'll find you... moya solnishko." he whispers to himself, fondly stroking the tattoo on his wrist. "And when I do, I'll make sure you'll never hide from me again." he promises, placing his lips on the tattoo on his wrist.
He would do anything to finally have someone to call his own…
"I was hoping to find you here." Aleksander turns around in surprise when he sees you standing behind him.
"How did you know?" he asks, putting the book back on the shelf. You see the title out of the corner of your eye.
The Lives of Saints
"I know many things." you say, leaning against the shelf. "But honestly? I didn't take you for someone who prays to saints. Or maybe your ego and ambition are so big that you want to become one of them?" you say teasingly, smirking at him. He rolls his eyes and takes your hand, leading you out of the library. You let him lead the two of you into the woods.
"You must have wanted something if you took your precious time to find me." he starts when you both walk a familiar path. This is where your strange "friendship" began, if you could call those stolen moments, kisses, and nights between you two like that… how poetic that it will end here as well.
"I am leaving." you speak briefly without looking at him.
You feel him tense up. It was probably not the answer he ever expected. Out of the corner of your eye, you see him swallow.
He clears his throat, trying to look composed. However, his dark eyes, as always, reveal his true feelings to you. You wonder if you're the only one who can read him like that. "Why?" he whispers.
"Apparently my warning was… not strong enough. One of the people who tried to kill you complained to my grandmother. I have to leave."
"I can talk to her…"
"No!" you cut him off quickly, letting go of his hand and standing in front of him. The last thing you need is his intercession with your grandmother. "I know you mean well, but it's the final decision."
"I see." he says coldly, looking away from you. "Is there anything else you wanted?"
"Yes." you say, pulling his dagger out of your sleeve, handing it to him. "I wanted to give it back to you."
"It's a gift. I'm not in the habit of taking back what I've given someone." he snorts, offended, at which you giggle, amused. He turns his gaze back to you, raising an eyebrow.
"I knew you'd say something like that. That's why…" you pull out a second, identical dagger to the one he gave you. The only difference is that the dagger's handle is decorated with a sun… an eclipsed sun. "I did it." you say, handing it to him.
He takes the dagger from you and examines the engraving. "Why it?" he asks curiously. "Why the eclipsed sun?" his gaze is burning, inquisitive. You know there's no turning back now. You take a step back, his dark irises following your every move.
You shrug. "Guess, shadow summoner."
He stares at you in shock. A thought… a ridiculous and beautiful thought crosses his mind. He knows there's no point in chasing after you. You'll run away from him anyway. But he can't help but scream after your receding silhouette. "What's your name?!"
You're smiling. But you don't turn around to look at him one last time, to steal one last look at his dark, piercing eyes, to get one more moment... Instead, you scream over your shoulder: "Call me sunshine!"
You disappear from his sight. Deep down, you know you'll meet again… But you weren't going to share your mother's fate… even for such mesmerising, dark eyes as his.
After hundreds of years, you've become accustomed to dreamless sleep.
It was your conscious choice. A promise to grandma, mother, and you. You didn't pray to the saints to bring you a dream about your soulmate. You didn't want him... even though his name on your wrist, hidden by your grandmother's bracelet, had tormented you for hundreds of years.
That's why, when your first dream started, you knew it was something bad. You knew your grandmother's necklace had somehow fallen off your neck. And so, you were dreaming. You dreamed about him... and he probably dreamed about you.
You galloped on a horse. It was early morning. The clearing where you galloped was shrouded in mist. The cool wind hit your skin, and your cloak billowed behind you as you tried to lose the black rider following you.
People usually run to their soulmates. They wanted to meet them at all costs. Not you. But the saints have never been merciful to you… maybe because you never prayed to any of them.
Or have they stopped letting you prolong the inevitable.
That's why the black rider soon caught up with you. He rode by your side for a moment, then shot forward. You knew he was trying to block your way, so you sped up and managed to catch up with him for a moment. You rode side by side for a while, but you didn't dare look and atface.
But your wishes no longer mattered.
He sped up ahead of you and stepped sideways, causing your horse to stop and stand on two legs. You held on tight to keep from falling. It wasn't until your horse had calmed down and stood on all four hooves that you loosened your grip on the reins.
"Moya solnishka..." his whisper made you shiver. You lifted your head and looked into those familiar, damned dark eyes that were the cause of all your troubles.
You sat still as he rode his horse closer to yours so he could touch your cheek with his hand. His thumb caressed your skin gently. "I've been waiting a long time for you."
You shivered, hypnotised, as you watched him lean closer to you. A familiar warmth spread through your body as you felt him amplify your powers. But his lips were too close for you to notice anything else than him; his touch and dark eyes, which were looking only at you...
You wake up suddenly. Your hand goes to your neck. Panicked, you discover that your grandmother's necklace is not there… you must have lost it in a fold.
"Fuck." you whisper, running your hand through your hair. The only defence against dreaming about your soul mate is gone. And now he knew who you really were... just as your fears were confirmed.
He was your soulmate. General Kirigan, Darkling, Black Heretic, the boy who was your first kiss hundreds of years ago…
The monster who created the fold…
And as it turned out… Aleksander Morozova.
You look around the room, realizing you're in a tent. And the red keftats of bustling healers confirm your worst fears.
During your journey through the fold, the ship was attacked by volcra. And you, obviously not wanting to die or let other people die, decided to use your power. You've done it hundreds of times before. Only much more discreetly… and you've never fainted from using so much of your power.
Your grandmother must be cursing you from the grave. She warned you a thousand times not to go near Ravka or the fold… and even after her death, you didn't listen to her. Now you have to sneak out of here somehow before word about the sun summoner spreads around the world. Hundreds of years of hiding will be wasted just because you weren't careful enough…
He was excited. He couldn't stand still.
His soulmate, his sun summoner, the solution to all his problems, his little sunshine was here.
He had been waiting for this moment for centuries. He had imagined it thousands of times. However, he never thought that his soulmate would be brought to him by his heartrender after they captured her after rescuing a ship full of people from the fold.
He dismisses everyone from the tent. Only he and she remain.
"It's been a long time, solnishko." he speaks softly. He is prepared for her silence and gives her a moment to process the situation. But he hoped to see a little more enthusiasm from her...
So he takes the time to look at her. On noting all the changes he might notice in her… her cool, indifferent look in those eyes that captivated him so much is one of the worst changes.
He clears his throat. You are still silent. You still ignore him. And Aleksander can't stand it.
"I had an interesting dream recently…" he begins, but you don't pick up on it. You don't really take your eyes off the floor… he's starting to get annoyed.
"You won't look at me?" he asks, waiting for your reaction. However, he finds nothing. Just a blank stare at the symbol he has chosen over the course of several hundred years. Eclipsed sun.
"You won't even comment on that? What a pity. I've always liked your sharp tongue." he says, taking a step towards you. You watched him carefully. He's a little triumphant to see that he's managed to catch your eye. Saints… he missed those damn eyes. "The cat stole your tongue? Or did they finally cut your tongue out for your insolence?"
"I thought you liked my sharp tongue." you snort sarcastically, avoiding his gaze as you realize he won't come any closer.
"She can talk!" he says, clapping his hands. "I was afraid something had happened to you, sunshine." you flinch at his words.
"Don't call me like that." you growl angrily, turning your stern gaze on him.
"You told me to call you that yourself. Don't you remember?"
"And now I take away your right to do so, Black Heretic. Or maybe you prefer a Starless Saint? I think I remember that you wanted to become one; what a pity people didn't even try to remember your name." you taunt him, and for a moment you see that he is offended, even hurt by your words, but his eyes quickly become blank, unmoved by your words.
As if he had heard them hundreds of times before and gotten used to them…
"I don't remember you being so… hostile to me before. What has changed?" he asks instead, watching you carefully and looking for answers in your eyes. But after all these years, you too know how to hide your emotions behind a stony mask of cold indifference.
"Maybe you didn't know me at all?" the question hangs between you for a while. You see for a moment that he hesitates with his answer, but his indecision is quickly replaced by a mocking, derisive smirk.
"When I heard about the mysterious Grisha, who can summon light and was stupid enough to throw herself into battle against hundreds of volcra, I immediately thought of you. And guess what…"
"At least one of the two of us should be concerned about Grishas' welfare. Why am I not surprised it's me and only me?" you see him clench his fists in rage when you insinuate that he's selfish, that he doesn't care about his people.
"Or maybe you don't know me at all?"
"I know men like you."
"There are no men like me. There are no others like us. And there will never be. I thought you had enough time to accept and understand it." he says bitterly, staring at you, disappointed. "Anyway, I have to go through the formalities. Your sleeve, please."
You stand still, too stubborn and angry to cooperate with him. He snorts, expecting your reaction, and takes two steps over the distance between you. You lift your head slightly, giving him a defiant look. He just gives you that irritating, confident smirk and grabs your hand gently, rolling up your sleeve himself. His dark eyes never leave yours. Even when his ring pierces the skin of your forearm.
You're so intent on each other that there might as well not have been that beam of light between you that shot the moment he made a small cut on your arm. It's just you and him. And from the unreadable smirk on his face, you might as well expect anything.
If you used to do it easily, now you can't read his eyes anymore. A skill he had to acquire over time. Hiding true emotions.
You both have changed. Each in its own way. He was no longer the nameless boy you met. And you weren't the mystery girl he used to know. He became the darkness he so often summoned... and you became the light you were meant to carry. If you once had anything in common, now you are completely strangers. Time heals wounds... or deepens them, but it always and undeniably changes people.
But neither of you could deny the connection between you. Even after all this time and even after what happened. It was a bound that was pulling you both towards each other…
"You and I are going to change the world, Y/N." you shivered hearing your real name for the first time come out of his mouth as lightly as if he had always called you that. Like he's always known you by that name deep in his heart.
Even if you didn't agree with him, you have to admit that he was right...
It's gonna be forver or it's gonna go down in flames...
present day
“Are you even listening to anything I’m saying?” he asks, his hands folded across his menu.
You close your own menu, setting it neatly on top of the plates, as you look over at him - the look in his eyes downright murderous. Granted, sticking your nose in the menu while he was trying to talk to you for the past twenty minutes couldn’t have helped, but he should cut you some slack. You’re really hungry.
It’s then and there that you see the look, that twitch in his right eye, and know exactly what’s going to happen. Toji Fushiguro, the accountant you’ve been dating for the last six months, is about to break up with you.
“It’s like you aren’t even paying attention when I talk to you, when I’m trying to sit here and tell you how I’m feeling.”
“Okay. So tell me how you’re feeling, Toji.”
He flares his nostrils, exasperated by your response. You thought it was polite. But you’ve been told your tone is downright argumentative, like grating nails on a chalkboard.
And then Toji lays out his final card, waiting for your broken expression.
“I’m breaking up with you. You-you and me. We’re done.”
No broken expression comes. Because you don’t let idiots like Toji think they have power over you, your feelings for even a second.
“Okay. Well, I still came here to eat dinner so could you pass me the main menu?”
You give him your best smile, sickly sweet, and it pushes him over the edge.
“Are you fucking serious? You’re not going to say anything to that? Anything at all? I just broke up with your pathetic ass and you don’t even feel a bit sad about it?”
You set the menu down again, crossing your wrists against your chest.
“Do you want me to, Toji? Because I can if you want me to.”
He gets even more frustrated, standing up at the table to yell his final words before he storms out.
“Do you know what your problem is, Y/N?”
“Please enlighten me. I’m dying to know.”
“You-you’re shit to be around. Literally the most frustrating, agitating, irritating person I’ve ever met. You can’t ever take anything at face value - you just argue and argue because it’s the only thing you know how to do. True love could knock on your door and you’d send it running away with that cold, dark heart in your chest. Because you’re hard to love.”
You clench your fists under the table, drawing blood against your palms.
“I’m so sorry I wasn’t as agreeable as you wanted me to be. Surely the secretary you’ve been fucking for the last three months we were dating is a sweeter taste in your mouth than I am.”
“Wait, what-”
“If you’re going to fuck another girl while you’re dating me, make sure you don’t butt dial me while you’re doing it, sweetheart.”
He furrows his brow, ears pink from what you’re sure is embarrassment as he storms off. You turn your head over your neck, lifting your hand to signal Nobara, Megumi, and Itadori to join you at the table.
They all awkwardly take the empty seats at the table, Itadori immediately reaching for the free bread on the table and Megumi reaching for the bottle of wine.
“You okay?” Megumi asks, a comforting hand on your shoulder.
“Toji has this really, really shit habit of leaving his stuff everywhere. His sunglasses, his keys, his wallet.”
You hold the wallet in the air, Nobara immediately snatching it from your hands and pulling out his credit card.
“No way.” she says, immediately running through the menu to find the most expensive thing to eat.
“He’ll cancel it tomorrow. So, we should make the most of it tonight.” you say, the three of them smiling back at you.
“You know, I’d feel half bad about this but he cheated on you for three months, so I really, really don’t.” Megumi says, ordering another bottle of wine.
Itadori puts his hand on yours, squeezing once as he asks.
“Are you sad about it?”
“Not really.”
“Oh, come on. She’s heartless. Ever since that idiot she dated from her hometown took her heart and went running with it, she’s been cold ever since.” Kugisaki says, spreading the leftover butter on the bread she just stole from Itadori.
“Exactly.” you say, smiling at the three of them.
You tilt the rest of your wine into the back of your throat, the sensation burning as you push it down.
You hate that after all these years, even the mention of him makes your head spin.
Satoru.
--
two years ago
“Go fuck yourself, Y/N.”
“Real clever, Getou. You really got me there.”
Getou immediately knocks you off your chair and starts wrestling with you on the ground - the two of you yanking each other’s arms and pulling each other's legs.
“Cut your hair, Getou. You look like a hillbilly with that uglyass manbun.”
“Check your attitude, Y/N. You’re getting bitchier as time goes on.”
You immediately reach up and grab a fistful of his hair, yanking hard as he elbows you in the eye. And you’re about to punch him straight in the stomach before you feel two arms around your waist, the hold firm, as you fight off the hold.
“That’s enough from you two, alright?” Satoru says, his voice in your ear sending a shiver down your spine.
“It’s not enough, Satoru. I need to give him a piece of my mind.”
“You’re going to give him a piece of your mind with your fist, princess?”
He finally lets you go, Shoko mimicking his actions as she lets Getou go on the other side of the kitchen. You’re both glaring bloody murder at each other, the stupid look on his ugly face only enraging you more.
“Quit calling me princess, it’s stupid.” you murmur, lifting your hands up to fix the mess Getou made of your hair.
“Cmon, Belle. Don’t be like that.”
You cringe at the nickname, even worse than princess, as the memory comes straight to your mind. Third grade. Halloween Eve.
You were going to be Cinderella for Halloween - all set with fake glass slippers and a sparkly blue dress and butterfly hair clips. But Getou and Satoru had come home straight from their soccer practice, all muddy and disgusting, and accidentally sat on your costume.
The pretty blue dress you had saved all your allowance on was ruined and along with it, your hopes of impressing Haibara - the guy that you had a crush on at the time.
Except Satoru, in his infinite kindness that he’s always shared with you, dragged you to the costume store the day after, his hands wrapped around your waist as he biked the two of you there in the scorching midday October heat.
“Do you guys have any Cinderella dresses left?”
“They’re all sold out. We’re so sorry, sir.”
As the clerk walks away, Satoru turns over to you, a giddy smile on his face.
“Did you hear that? That lady just called me sir.”
“Really funny, Satoru.”
You push him into the stand by the cashier, as you stomp to the other side of the store. You look up at the little catalogs, the sparkly blue dress in the picture with a red “sold out” sign stamped on top of it. He catches up, his hand soft on your shoulder, as he talks.
“Sorry we messed up your dress, Y/N.”
You can feel the tears building in your eyes as you start aggressively swiping them away, trying to hide the fact that you were crying in front of Satoru. Knowing him, he was just going to run home and tell Getou so the two of them could laugh at you.
“No, you’re not. You probably did it on purpose.”
“We didn’t, I-I swear.”
“Getou literally told me yesterday that he thought it was stupid I wanted to be a princess for Halloween. That girls like me aren’t princesses, because they have a rotten attitude. He said I should dress up as the Scream instead.”
You look over at the ghost mask - all elongated and scary - and it only sends more tears running down your face.
“Hey. You can still be a princess if you want to be.” he says.
“No, I can’t. Because you guys ruined the costume I already did buy. And I don’t have the money for another one because I-I spent my entire allowance on that costume.”
Satoru pulls out his wallet and brings his hand down to yours, placing the crisp dollar bills in your hand. You look over at him and he’s smiling - the tips of his ears pink.
“Now you have money for the costume.”
“There’s still no costume, dumbass.”
Satoru drags you down the aisle and points at the sparkly yellow dress, his hand now slung around your shoulder again.
“They still have this one.”
“Belle? You want me to be Belle?”
“You’re more of a Belle than Cinderella. Getou’s right in the sense that you’re a little bit too harsh to be a Cinderella type.”
“Geez. Thanks Satoru.”
“But you’re smart, ambitious, headstrong enough to be a Belle. Cinderella’s the type of bitch to always back down from a fight. Belle on the other hand fights for what she wants, like you.”
You look over at him and smile, your heart pounding in your chest as the two of you biking back to the house with the sparkly yellow dress in the bag in between you guys.
“Just don’t fight to date a literal animal like Belle, okay? That’s bestiality.”
“Shut up, Satoru.”
You feel a hand on your head, shaking hard, and grounding you back in the moment. And at your irritation at Getou, who's still hurling insults at you from the other side of the room.
“She started it, Shoko.” he says.
“No, I didn’t. You’re the dumbass who-” you start.
“I’m so fucking sick of you, Y/N. You’re always fucking nagging me in some way or another. You know, I heard you crying the other day about how you’re the only girl in your class who's never had a guy like you. Maybe if you took a look in the fucking mirror you’d realize why. You’re insufferable to be around.”
You can feel the tears welling in your eyes - hot and angry - as you bolt straight out the door and down the street. You can faintly hear the three of them calling for you, but you reach straight for the bike on the curb and go as far as you can.
You make your way five blocks down from your house to eventually stop at the lake, resting the bike against the dock before you walk down. You take your shoes off and dip your feet in, watching the sun fall behind the water and the sky turn brilliant, beautiful shades of pink, orange, and yellow.
And when dark blue starts creeping in, you lay back against the dock and watch the stars trickle into the night sky, hundreds of tiny sparkling lights. Except your view of the sky is then obscured by Satoru’s face, upside down from your vantage point.
“Hi Belle.”
“Screw off.”
He sits down, taking his own shoes off and dipping his feet into the water to lie down next to you.
“Did you have to take my bike when you ran off? Yours was two feet away from it.”
“Closest one. Cry about it, Satoru.”
You both sit in silence, save for the sound of your feet splashing in the water as Satoru breaches the topic.
“Never had a guy like you, huh?”
“You’re such a fucking asshole, you know that? First, you watch Getou literally rip me a new one for no reason and now you’re here to rub it in my face?”
“You know that wasn’t what I was doing. Have I ever made fun of you like that?”
You sit up, running your hands through your hair, as you look down at the water, your leg sending ripples far beyond. You swallow hard, the tears rising to your eyes again.
“No, Satoru. I haven’t had a guy like me like that. I’m the only girl going into senior year who hasn’t been kissed by a guy.” you whisper, the confession making you turn red with embarrassment.
Satoru sits up, scooting closer to you so your knees are knocking each other, as you both look down at the water.
“So why’s that a big deal, Y/N? You’ve never cared about what people think, let alone men. I mean, you’re basically a misandrist at this point.”
You smile, looking over at his blue eyes, almost indiscernible in the dark of the night.
“It’s a big deal because I want someone to like me. I-I know that you all think I’m mean and I argue all the time and-and whatever, maybe it’s true. But, I want someone to like me. You know, butterflies, first kisses, someone who saves all their secret jokes for you.”
He puts his hand flat against your forehead, like he’s checking your temperature.
“You feeling okay? Who are you and what have you done with, Y/N?”
You shake his hand off, rolling your eyes at him, as you both laugh into the night.
“You’re so mean, Satoru. I hate you.”
He lifts one of his legs out of the water and turns to his side, so that he’s facing you. You mimic his motions, the look on your face bored as you look over at him.
“I’m going to tell you something, and it’s going to wound my ego a little bit, so don’t tell anyone okay?”
“You with a wounded ego? I would live for the day.”
He lightly nudges you before turning back down to the water, swishing the water with his legs.
“What you said isn’t true, Belle.”
“What part?”
“About going into highschool and not having a guy like you.”
“That guy who chased me around in first grade doesn’t count because he literally thought I was-”
He brings his hands down on your face, squishing your cheeks so hard that you can’t get another word out. His eyes are closed, his face only a few feet from yours.
“Princess, I really, really love it when you argue with me like that but can you please just let me finish?” he whispers, the words sending a shiver down your spine.
You nod as he lets go, giving you a satisfied smile. He turns his head back to the water, leaning over the dock.
“That guy in first grade did like you. And I like you too.”
He looks over and smiles and it makes your blood burn. You lift your hands to cover your pink face, the implication of the entire thing making your stomach burn with anxiety, embarrassment, and the gross, mushy gushy feelings you’ve had for Satoru for years. For the boy who always came to your defense when you’re fighting Getou, always came to your aid when you were crying, and the only, only person you’ve never argued with.
“So quit crying about it, okay? My type has always been girls like you.”
“Girls like me?”
“Argumentative.”
You nod as Satoru stands up, holding his hand out. And ignore the pounding in your chest when his skin touches yours. You both walk your bikes - you pushing his bike and him pushing yours back down the blocks as you cheese at each other in the dark, sharing a secret smile before Satoru ducks back into Getou’s room.
--
three months later
You push up on the counter, swirling the cup of lemonade in your hand as you watch everyone mill around the party.
Your parents went out of town on a business trip. Getou throws the biggest party of the summer. And specifically tells you to stay in your room, because no one likes freshmen at a party.
Yet here you are, drinking lemonade and watching everyone mill around the party. Getou’s trying too hard to hit on a girl way older than him and Shoko and Utahime are so blatantly flirting that its giving you physical pain to watch them pine the way they are any longer.
But there’s one person you haven’t seen. Satoru.
He should have been back from his family trip to Tokyo for the summer since school was starting next week and there’s no way that he would miss anything that Getou and Shoko planned.
Even the thought of him makes your heart race, his swift admission of his feelings for you that were all but unrequited right before he left. You feel a tap on your shoulder, throwing you out of your thoughts.
“Hey. Can you hand me a cup?”
You halfheartedly smile as you reach over, handing her a cup from behind you. She gives you a smile as she swirls through the random potion Getou was serving - a dark purple color. You’re sure there’s an unfathomable amount of liquor mixed in and that it tastes disgusting.
“You want some?”
“I’m good. Getou poisoned that for all I know.” you mutter, which elicits a laugh from her.
“Interesting guy. He’s cute, right?”
You gag, the thought making the lemonade you just drank roll over in your stomach.
“Disgusting. He’s my older brother.”
She laughs, pushing up on the counter to sit with you and smiles.
“My bad. He’s ugly, downright horrendous.”
“Thank you.”
You smile as you look over at her, her eyes scanning the mess of people in front of you two.
“Oh shit. Wait, you’re Y/N, right? Satoru was talking about you.”
And any good feeling you have is now replaced with a green, jealous monster. And that part of you - the one that argues, the one that feels bitter, anger so powerfully is fighting its way out.
“Y-yeah. How do you know Satoru?”
“I don’t. I just met him upstairs. I almost puked in your room but he stopped me, helped me to the bathroom, and held my hair for a while while I threw up.”
“He’s a real nice guy, isn’t he?” you say, the sarcasm dripping from you voice.
Of course the asshole shows up to your house and flirts with another girl in your bedroom. Typical.
“Yeah. Cute too.”
Just then, Satoru and Getou walked up to you - with complete opposite expressions on their faces. Satoru is shining like the sun, his cheeks tinted pink which you’re sure is from drinking. And Getou’s glaring at you like there’s no tomorrow, his forehead scrunched up in irritation.
“Y/N.”
“Getou.”
“What are you drinking?”
“Lemonade.”
Getou snatches the cup from your hand and sets it down and by the look on his face, you know he’s about to start a fight with you.
“Are you fucking dense? That’s not lemonade, dumbass.”
“Do you think I was born yesterday, idiot? I took it from the unopened bottle in the fridge.”
“You shouldn’t be here right now. You’re too young to be here.”
“You’re one year older than me, Getou. And don’t throw a party in my house if you don’t want me here.”
Satoru puts a hand on Getou’s shoulder, whispering something in his ear until he gives you one last glare and walks away. Satoru gives you a big smile but before he can talk, the girl from before cuts him off.
“Do you want to dance now? I promise I got all my vomit out earlier so I won’t throw up this time.”
She gives him a big smile, and you swear Satoru’s considering it by the way he pauses and looks at her, which is enough said for you. You push up off the counter, telling them you’ll be right back and run off to the lake again, this time stealing Getou’s bike from the curb.
You’re pushing your legs so hard that they’re hurting, the tears biting cold against your skin from how fast you’re going in the middle of the night. And when you make it to the dock, you throw his bike against the grass and angrily kick your shoes off as you start taking your clothes off.
Is it a good idea to go skinny dipping in the middle of the night, alone? No. But is every human person that would come to this park at the party? Yes.
Which is the only reason you take the plunge and stare up at the moon, a tiny silver crescent in the sky. You hear a splash behind you after a few minutes and are met with Satoru, wet hair matted on his forehead.
“Find your own lake, weirdo.”
“You know. You shouldn’t skinny dip in public. People could see you.”
You look over to his pile of clothes and shoes, neatly folded in the pile next to yours.
“Same goes for you, pervert.”
You roll your eyes at him as you cross your hands across your chest, turning to your back so you don’t have to look at him. He’s faster than you are, because suddenly he’s floating right in front of you, inches from your face.
“Did I hurt your feelings, princess?”
“Quit calling me that. It’s disgusting.”
He brings his hands to your face, pushing away the tangled wet mess of hair on your shoulders.
“You like it when I call you that.”
“No, I don’t.”
“Yes, you do, Belle.”
“Satoru.”
“I’m not saying my piece till you say yours. And you want to hear mine, so talk.”
You take a deep breath as you look at his face - all calm and blank faced like he didn’t just do the biggest asshole move he could have.
“You’re a dick, you know that? First of all, you tell me all this shit about how you like me right before you leave. And then when you come back, the first thing I see is you talking to another girl? You were holding her hair in the bathroom, fondling god knows what in my bedroom and now you want to come here and skinny dip with me? I am not some consolation prize you get to have because she was bored of those ugly pool noodle dance moves you have and don’t ever think for a second that I will be.”
You finish, your chest heaving and a shiver running across your body from the cold water. And instead of a sincere, kind-hearted apology, an acknowledgement of what he did - Satoru Gojo is laughing in your face.
You reach forward to smack his face and he stops your hand in the air, tangling his fingers with yours.
“You’re so ridiculous, you know that?”
“You’re so fucking r-”
“Fondling? Pool noodle? Where do you even come up with this stuff?”
He brings his hands up to your cheeks and leans your head forward, pressing the softest kiss to your forehead. You can feel your head short circuiting at the sensation, your arms tingling from how close he is.
“You’re so, so ridiculous you know that? I’m never going to get tired of you.” he whispers, the words making your hair stand on their ends.
“What-you can’t just say that and-”
“Why do you think I was in your room?”
“What?”
“I was in your room, because I was looking for you. And I thought I was being nice by stopping that girl from puking all over your sheets - because I know you hate laundry and Getou isn’t going to do it for you - so I took her to the bathroom.”
You can feel the embarrassment rushing to your face for misreading the situation entirely, taking the palms of your hands and rubbing them into your eye sockets. He laughs as he tangles his hands around your wrists, placing them around his own neck.
“Still the only senior who hasn’t been kissed yet?”
“Huh?”
“I’ve been thinking about what you said. When I saw you last. Are you still the only senior who hasn’t been kissed yet?”
“Oh. Oh, yeah. But I-”
“Good.”
He leans forward, tangling his hands around your waist as he presses his warm lips to yours, his hands squeezing you as he laughs into your mouth. You don’t have much to compare it to, but by the way he’s hanging off your lips, you can tell he’s eager. Way too eager - to be kissing you of all things.
“Satoru.”
“Hm?”
“I like you too.”
His face breaks out into a smile, so big that it makes you smile too. And when he cups his hand around your face again to kiss the tip of your nose, you can feel your insides screaming. For him.
“No telling Getou. He’s going to kill me, okay?”
“As if. He literally hates me, he’d be glad if-”
“No. He can’t know. You-you’re his little sister. If he finds out I even looked at you this way, he-he’d end me where I stand. Trust me, Belle. If I break my promise, he'll never talk to me again.”
“What promise?”
“When we were little. He made me promise I wouldn’t like you.”
“And yet here you are. Naked in a lake with me.”
“You like to argue. I like to break rules. We all have our vices, princess.”
You lean into his touch again, pressing your lips against his, as the moon shines a bright light on the two of you in the dark.
--
four months later
You and Getou awkwardly stand in the kitchen, by the open bottles of champagne, as you both secretly circle the glasses behind your back. Getou has his moments - and this is one of them. When your parents put you on display like shiny trophies for their coworkers, bragging about how smart the two of you are.
“You decided where you’re going yet?”
“Tokyo or Kyoto, Toto.”
“Toto. Ew. You haven’t called me that since we were little, idiot.”
He brings his hand around your shoulder, tucking you into his arm as you lean against his shoulder, smiling. After Getou really realized you’d be leaving at the end of the year, he’s been nicer. Granted, he still fights like hell but he has his odd moments. Like this one.
“You’ll always be Get-toto to me.”
“I’ll get you a little Totoro plushie before you go, okay? So when those bastards you date fight with you, you’ll always be reminded you have a little bitch in you ready to fight.”
“Why are you praying for my downfall? You’re not gonna manifest a sweet, warm love for me?”
“Please. The guy you end up with will be all fireworks. Soft fireplace love has never been your thing.”
He ruffles your hair as Satoru walks up, his tie loosened already. He gives you a smile and then shakes hands with Getou, the three of you leaning against the granite countertops, watching your parents mingle through the crowd.
“D’you pick yet? Because Tokyo’s the right choice, Belle.”
“I’m still thinking, Satoru.”
“C’mon. Imagine it - you joining me and Getou in Tokyo. It would be really fun.”
Satoru’s just trying to piss you off. He knows that you’ve already picked Tokyo, because it means you don’t have to long distance date anymore. No more driving up to see each other in between, getting pulled away from each other by the constraints of time or distance or really anything else.
One of the smaller girls at the party tugs the end of your dress, whispering in her ear that she wants warm milk, which you happily oblige with. Satoru and Getou stay in their spots as you start rummaging through the kitchen, picking out a little glass and warming up the milk for her.
“Honey?”
“Yes, love?” Satoru responds, turning his gaze over to you.
You feel your eyes widen and Satoru’s face turn red as he looks over at you, realizing you were asking the girl if she wanted honey in her milk and not calling him. You both look over to Getou, who has a very strange look on his face that you can’t really discern.
Fuck.
You hand the girl her milk and stand farthest away from Satoru, giving Getou a weak smile as you all stare at the party again.
“Look. It’s Shayla.”
You and Satoru crane your necks over the other side of the room, one of your neighbors daughters saying hello to all the guests. Which you’re sure you’re getting to get a lecture about now, since you didn’t want to spend the time saying hi to all of them.
“Remember when you had a really big crush on her, Satoru? Since we were kids?”
“Uh, yeah. But I was just really little, y’know.”
You can feel your throat drying as Getou pushes on, each word making your heart burn in your chest.
“Yeah, but. She was basically your first love. Who forgets that? Who compares to that?”
“I don’t know if I would say she was my first l-”
“Then who is, Satoru? Because it’s not my sister, right?” he asks, his voice firm.
Satoru said that he would tell Getou when you officially announced you were going to Tokyo. Because once you lived in the same city, nothing would stop you from being with him - not even his best friend.
“No, no, why would it be her? She’s been annoying us since we were little, arguing with us and all that. You-you’re right. It is her. Shayla’s always been my type.” he says, his gaze lowering to the floor.
You feel your heart sink, twist into a jumbled mess as Getou smiles and gestures for her to come over. There’s a fair amount of protests from Satoru as she walks over, which you know is him trying to save face. He deals his final blow the second she walks up, definitively and wholly breaking your heart into pieces.
When Getou starts setting the two of them up. When Satoru actually takes her number down. When she presses a kiss to his cheek and winks before she walks away.
“I have to pee, Toto. Cover for me?”
“Yeah, got it.”
And the second you walk away and Getou watches you wipe the tears from your face as you walk past, Getou knows he’s right.
“Getou. You have to-”
“No, Satoru. Are you fucking kidding me?”
“Wait, what- you can’t just-”
“She’s my little sister. She’s not some toy you get to play around with till you figure out how you feel. And you don’t get to embarrass her by hiding her away either.”
“We were going to tell you when she told you she’s going to Tokyo. You-you’re the reason I hid her away. I’ve liked her for years and I put that away because you didn’t want me with her. And now I-”
“Don’t blame your shortcomings on me. Even if you did have to hide it in front of me, I would never call the girl I loved annoying to her face and throw everything she’s hated about herself in her face to make a point.”
“I didn’t- Getou you’re the one who made her hate that about herself and-”
“You love her?”
“Obviously. Why would I go to the trouble of hiding something when-”
“Talk to her again and I will literally break your face. In what world do you treat someone you love like that?”
As Satoru watches Getou walk away and thinks about how hard you’re crying upstairs, he realizes he’s in his worst nightmare. Losing his best friend and the girl he loved on the same day.
You and Satoru make promises that day.
He promises that he’ll wear his heart on his sleeve from this day forward. You promise that you’ll tuck your heart away where no one can ever touch it again.
--
present day
“You’re no fun, Y/N.” Itadori says, pushing the paper into your space.
“And you suck at tic-tac-toe.” you respond, sliding it back.
Nobara and Megumi laugh as the three of you sink back into your chairs in the back of the conference room, your marketing manager droning on about stocks, the future of the company, and god knows what as you try to drone him out and focus on winning your seventh round of tic-tac-toe with Itadori. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t take much.
“And lastly, we’ve employed a new marketing manager to work with the sales team. The four of you back there can decide who he’s going to be working with for onboarding.” says Ijichi.
You nod as the four of you turn to each other, matching smirks on your face.
“Rock paper scissors?” Nobara asks.
“Deal.”
It’s not that you’d hate to work with the new marketing manager. But the past three marketing managers were driven out by the end of the month because of you guys.
Megumi was too harsh with the first girl, who left crying when he asked her if she got her marketing degree from a trash can. Nobara drove the second guy away when she found out he chewed too loudly while eating lunch, claiming that he wasn’t a good fit for the company. And Itadori drove the last girl away, because she fell in love with him and he didn’t return her feelings, which made her resign the next day.
“You know, logically. It’s your turn.” Megumi says, holding his fist up to Itadori.
“Nope. We honor the rock paper scissors tournament in this friendship.
You mince your words four rounds later because you’re the pouty loser getting stuck with the stupid marketing manager. You slide back into your chair as you massage your temples, preparing yourself for the upcoming headache for the next month.
Either a lover, an incompetent idiot, or a loud chewer.
Nobara and Itadori sling their hands around your shoulders, pinching your cheeks, as Ijichi swings the door open and the marketing manager walks in. He readjusts his tie - loosely hanging from his neck - and when you lift your head to actually make eye contact with him, you immediately sit up in your chair, your skin burning.
Because Satoru Gojo is no longer six thousand miles away in Tokyo - out of sight and out of mind. He’s three feet away from you - taller, older, and more attractive than the time you saw him last.
Everyone files out of the conference room, leaving the two of you standing miles away from each other, with you refusing to meet his eye. He walks up and holds his hand out, a shy smile on his face.
“Satoru Gojo.”
You put your hand in his - the touch warm, soft, all the way you remembered it.
“Y/N L/N.” you respond, mimicking his voice.
“Y/N, huh? You look more like a Belle to me.” he responds, smirking as he walks out to your cubicle labeled right across.
You stomp right out, following him into your cubicle, as he takes the seat across from yours and starts eating the candy in your jar. You roll your eyes as you smack his hand, the smile on his face so big it's pissing you off.
“Just so you know, there’s a very notorious reputation for running out the idiot who takes your position. And trust me, I’ll have you out by the end of the week.”
“Is that a challenge, princess?”
“You can’t flirt with me. I’m technically your boss, Satoru.”
“You like to argue. I like to break rules. We all have our vices, princess.” he says, sticking one of your caramel candies in your mouth before pushing off your desk and making his way down the other side of the office.
Six hours later, you’re face planting into the table at dinner, the words echoing through your mind. Along with all the memories you buried deep, deep down and tried to forget. Of running off to the lake all summer, Satoru washing your hair softly in the showers after, of nestling up in his arms to call it a day.
Of Satoru rubbing circles into your back every time you fought with someone, of you kissing him after every fight he had with his dad, of whispering I love you against each other's lips like it was a sacred oath.
“You look horrible.” Megumi says, sharing a judgemental look with Itadori.
“Shut up.”
“It’s just one of those lame interns. Just do what Nobara did - say he smells bad.” Itadori responds, the three of them laughing.
You dig your forehead into your forearms, only lifting your head to drink more of Itadori’s beer, as the thoughts race through your head.
In all honesty, the problem has always been easy to avoid. Two years ago, Satoru smashed your heart into tiny pieces. You decided that you wouldn’t go to Tokyo or Kyoto like you planned and picked up everything and moved to New York instead.
You didn’t say goodbye. To him or to anyone. Your parents drove you to the airport and Getou gave one of those weird, repressed older brother hugs and then you turned on your heel and never went back.
You have a nice job. Friends who love you. Your dating life is abysmal at most - a long stream of guys you’ve ghosted, fought, and broken up with. Unfazed, unperturbed - calm, cool, and collected.
It doesn’t bother you. Because you stuck by your promise. That you’ll tuck your heart away where no one can touch it. But it only takes five minutes of interaction with him and you can feel the concrete walls around your heart turning into clay, softened by the sweetness he’s always possessed, the softness he’s always shared with you.
You have to drive him out of here as fast as you can.
--
Seven weeks later and Satoru remains at the company, steadfast and true.
It drives you crazy, having him around. So up in your space, his smell lingering in your cubicle even after he walks away. He makes stupid jokes that make you smile so hard that you’re fighting the tears in your eyes and flirts with no shame like it’s breathing air.
All in all, he’s everything you loved about Satoru, in your head again. In an even more attractive body, because of course time is nice to the asshole and he’s fit in all the right places.
You ignore him the best you can, until you can’t anymore.
You make it down to the parking lot, your high heels in your hand as you unlock your car and start loading your stuff into the trunk.
That’s when you see him, slumped against his car with the hood popped open, with a very, very confused look on his face. You clear your throat loudly, which catches his attention.
“Oh. Heading out late, Y/N?”
“Looks like it. You?”
“Ah. I actually meant to leave early today but my car hasn’t been starting so.”
You take one look at his pouty face and give in. You slam the trunk of your car shut and whisper the words out, so fast that you can’t even think to regret them.
“Get in the car.”
“Huh?”
“Get in the car, Satoru. Unless you want to stay here for the rest of the weekend, then be my guest.”
He gives you the brightest smile you’ve seen as he all but jogs over and settles into the front seat of your car, slumping down in the seat that’s pushed all the way up. You back up out of the parking garage as he plugs in the address for his apartment, a modest thirty minutes away from the office.
“You know, you can move the chair back. I’m not going to bite your head off if you do.”
He laughs and you see his shoulders deflate as he adjusts the seat, his long legs now spread in the open compartment underneath him.
“What a shame. I’m into that type of thing, Y/N.”
“Always the perverted one, weren’t you?” you respond, smiling over at him.
Stop it, Y/N. Stop it.
“Who the hell sits up here anyway? A toddler?”
“Oh. It was just this guy I was talking to. He was really short but he always felt the need to monitor my driving so he pulled the seat all the way up to watch the lines.” you respond, turning left onto the street.
“Ah. One of your many romantic escapades, so I’m told. I’ve heard you’ve become quite the player, Y/N.” he says, leaning against the glass.
“Learned from the best, Satoru. Except this time, I don’t get overinvolved.” you respond.
He laughs, leaning back in the chair as you both fall into a comfortable silence, the tension hanging in the air eating at your skin. It hangs in the air, like an embarrassing elephant in the room.
Satoru’s the one who pokes it.
“Then, you should get involved with me. Again.”
You keep your promises to yourself. But Satoru keeps his too. An oath to wear his heart on his sleeve is translated into him fighting to get you back.
You slam the breaks so hard that his forehead goes straight into the sun visor, a groan leaving his mouth. You apologize and immediately reach forward, cupping the side of his face and eyeing the angry red mark on his forehead.
“Yikes. I’m sorry, Cyclops. That caught me off guard.”
“Be careful, there. Almost thought you cared for a second.” he says, smirking.
You park the car in front of his apartment and look out the window, the words making your head spin.
“You know, I can tell you want to.” he says.
You turn around and frown, reaching forward to flick into the soft skin of his cheek.
“Please. You’re not even all that-”
“You brushed your hand against mine when we walked to the conference room. I caught you staring at me during the company lunch on Thursday. And I know you just stopped talking to the short guy because Itadori told me. What’s the worst that could happen?”
--
The worst has happened. Because for the second time, you are irrevocably and deeply in love with Satoru Gojo.
Maybe you never stopped.
Just like you were when you were seven, you’re incredibly drawn to him, like two magnets being pulled together. What was supposed to be one date, one lousy hookup like every other guy you’ve talked to in the past year turned into a complicated, mushy gushy feelings mess.
You stayed over at his house that night. But then he was shirtless, singing in the kitchen as he made you breakfast in bed the next morning. And little by little, he’s crawled into every little part of your life.
He insists on driving you to work, buying you a sugary overpriced latte you would never splurge on for yourself and a pastry to go with it on the way. He claims he doesn’t want any but reaches over the seat to take a bite and then press a chocolatey kiss to your lips.
He hangs out with you and your friends after work. And like always, he always backs you up in the thousands of petty arguments he has with each of them and then tells you that it turns him on when he drives you home.
He draws little shapes into your skin every night, asking you to guess the little drawings he’s making while his soft, smooth voice lulls you to sleep. And when you wake up, you can’t help but watch him, the little freckles he had when he was seventeen still the same.
It makes your heart warm. The soft feelings you’ve always had for him, they make you warm.
Which is why you curse yourself for ever thinking things could be different, when he drops the ball three months later.
“Can you drive me to the airport on Friday, princess?” he asks, his breaths tickling your nose.
“Where are you going, Toru?” you murmur, burrowing yourself deeper into his skin.
“Home. The job posting was temporary, remember?” he responds, pressing a kiss to the top of your forehead.
“Oh. Are- you’re not going to look for a job here?’
“Nah. Time’s up right?” he says, the question hanging in the air.
And when you wake up the next morning, to find him in your kitchen with a bowl of cereal all poured out for you and a bouquet of flowers, you can’t help but yell at him. After the shit he pulled last night.
“You should probably go to your apartment and pack your stuff up. Since you’re leaving tomorrow.”
“We can do it tomorrow, Belle. Most of my stuff is here anyway.” he says, holding the bowl close to his mouth as he leans over the counter.
“I can’t take you tomorrow. Megs said he will so you can ask him for help. He-he’s actually on his way now to get you.” you murmur, crossing your hands against your chest.
He frowns, coming up close to you to wrap his arms around you which you quickly side shuffle out of. You push past him and walk into the kitchen, clutching the countertop hard. Satoru smiles to himself before he turns around, knowing he’s won the war.
“Do you want me to stay, Belle?”
You roll your eyes, the audacity of him even suggesting that just pissing you off more. Irritated, because of course he said that. Agitated, because he can read you like a book.
“No, Satoru. Go home.”
“You sure? Because it seemed like-”
“Do you really think it would bother me if you left, Satoru? Do you really think you’re different from any other guy I talked to?”
Satoru frowns, the angry look on your face the opposite of the love-struck, warm confession he was expecting. But then again, this was you. Argumentative to your core - so he just needs to wrangle it out of you.
“I know I’ve been here longer than the rest of them, that’s for sure.”
“And do you think that makes you special, Satoru? Do you sincerely, genuinely think any of that means I would want you to stay right now?”
“Well, wait- I’m not just any other guy now, you and I, we-”
“We what? Have history? A long term fling doesn’t make us soulmates, Satoru.”
“That wasn’t a fling. You and I were-”
“You and I were no different than what we are now, Satoru. You should have known to not get over involved. I told you from the start that this is how it would be. You leaving didn’t faze me the first time and it won’t faze me the second time either, sweetheart.”
Satoru moves past you, yanking his hoodie on and grabbing his key off the hook as he swings the door open. And when he shuts the door behind you, his tear-stained face being the last thing you see, you sink onto the floor and can’t help but sob.
For the first boy you ever loved. Who burned you so bad, that you burned him too. Who soothed over every angry, irritating, argumentative part of you, until it was something you unleashed on him too.
You wonder why you let yourself into these sinkholes in the first place.
--
“Hey, man. Have a safe flight home, okay? It was nice getting to know you.” Itadori says, lugging the last of Satoru’s luggage out of the back.
Satoru gives Itadori one last hug before Megumi starts lugging his bags into the terminal with him, the intense feelings from the day prior still hanging on his chest.
“You-you’ll take care of her right? After I’m gone?” Satoru asks, as he pulls into the line.
“Who?”
“Y/N.”
“Oh. Yeah, I will. This time around though, I’m not letting Itadori and Nobara invite her to the bar.”
Satoru smiles, the thought of you drunk, making his heart ache. One of his many favorite sights is you on your fourth glass of wine - when your lips are all pink and when you climb all over him, whispering the corniest, cheesiest things that come to mind.
“Princess. You’re kind of cutting off my circulation here.”
“Sss-sorry, Satoru. Wanted to get closer.” you whisper, tangling your arms around his neck and readjusting in his lap.
“What’s closer than this princess? You’re literally on top of me right now.” he responds, cupping your face to push the hair away from your face.
“Not close enough.”
“The only thing closer than this is if you crawled into my skin and became a part of my bloodstream.”
“Is there a way to do that? Because I would.”
“You wanna be that close to me, huh princess?”
“Even when I’m sitting right next to you, right on top of you, literally skin to skin - I still can’t get enough of you. I want to be this close, all the time.”
Satoru shakes the memory from his mind as the people behind him gesture him to move forward in line, his heart hanging heavier in his chest.
“She always drinks too much, doesn’t she?” he says.
“Well, yeah. It’s usually funny. But now she’s going to go back into her moping, angsty teenager phase for the next seven months. I’ll probably be dragging her out of that bar on her legs, for all I know.”
“Y/N? Angsty? That’s real funny.”
“No, I’m telling you. When we first met her, all this girl did was cry in the bar. Her sadness was like…contagious or whatever it was making me depressed. One time she sang All Too Well, on the countertop while sobbing until the bartender literally had to kick her ass out.”
“The first guy she dated when she moved here was that bad, huh?”
“No. Itadori and Nobara have this running theory, they’ve been trying to figure out who he is for a while. The one thing we know for sure is that he’s definitely from her hometown and that she broke up with him right before she moved here.”
And that’s when Satoru gets it. That you’re a goddamn liar. And that you definitely did want him to stay.
Satoru does the only thing he can. Drops everything and runs straight out the airport to make his way back to your apartment. He’ll be damned if he makes the same mistake twice.
--
You look up from your spot, sprawled on the cold tiles of your kitchen floor, when you hear a key turn in the lock. You immediately sit up to find Satoru, an almost angry look on his face, when he storms in and bends down in front of you.
“Forget your diapers, grandpa?”
“Shut up, Y/N.”
“It’s a long flight. You don’t want to have an accident do you?”
He brings his hands up to your cheeks, squishing hard so you can’t get another word. And what he says next, the same words he uttered to you in that stupid lake, sober you u pearl fast.
“Princess, I really, really love it when you argue with me like that but can you please just let me finish?”
You swallow hard as he gives you a satisfied smile, giving him a soft nod.
“Do you want me to stay?”
“God, Satoru. Just quit it with this shit, I already told you no and I mean-”
“You also told me that it didn’t faze you when we broke up the first time. But then I find out, you were slurring my name in bars and crying about it for months.”
“So? Do you want a cookie or something?”
“So you’re a liar. And now I want to know the truth. Do you want me to stay?”
His eyes are burning, bigger than you’ve ever seen them. The gaze itself is piercing, making the ends of your hair stand up on your arms and legs. You shake his hand off your face as you stand up, scrambling to the other side of the kitchen.
“I don’t want you to stay.”
“Yes, you do. You’re lying, Y/N.”
“No, I’m not. One measly piece of information my friends mention in passing doesn’t mean it’s about you, Satoru.”
He brings his hands around your wrist, curling his fingers around the skin and squeezing twice.
“I made the dumbest mistake of my life. I had an opportunity, a real one to be honest about how I felt and I fucked it up, okay? I’ve regretted it every day since you walked away. You were going to go to school - with me. We were going to be together. But then you picked up everything and move to the other side of the fucking planet to halfheartedly date all these guys without a care in the world.”
“What does stating facts do for you, Satoru? What is it you want me to say?”
“You know what I want to hear. Say it, Belle.”
“What? That I left because of you? That I loved you so much that it made my heart hurt? That every second I’m around you it only feels like my love gets bigger for you? That the only person I can’t bring myself to get over is you? Because what does me saying that do for me because you’re just going to-”
Satoru smiles before he closes the space between you, pushing you into the counter and cradling your cheeks in his hand. He’s leaning into the kiss, so hard that you can feel almost his entire body weight on you as his lips press against yours.
He’s shaking hard and smiling into the kiss, pulling you back in every time you try to stop, his hands running in your hair as he laughs into your mouth.
“Was it so hard to tell me that you wanted me to stay?” he whispers, giggling into your ear as he presses kisses into your neck.
“Was it so hard to tell me you wanted to? You just had to come have this big moment with me here when-”
“Yes, I did. You deserved a big, lengthy love confession when you were seventeen, at that stupid party. I’m trying to do right by you through this dramatic shit now.”
“Because this is doing right by me? Making me cry and then running back?”
“It’s romantic, princess. I ran out of an airport for you.”
“After we argued. That kind of puts a damper on it.”
“Oh, shut up. You know argumentative girls have always been my thing.”
You place your hands around his face, yanking his head out of the crook of your neck as you hold his face in your hands, the skin soft. He still has all the little freckles, the same eyes and nose that you loved when you were seventeen.
That you love. You love him.
“Satoru.”
“Yeah?”
“How did you get a key to my house?”
He rolls his eyes as he breaks out of your hold, sticking his tongue out at you.
“That would have been a really sweet moment for a confession. You ruined it, princess.”
You smile as you make your way into his arms again, looking up at him from his hold.
“I made a copy of your key, Y/N.”
“That’s illegal, Toru. Breaking and entering.”
“You like to argue. I like to break rules. Everyone has their vices.”
You bring your hands back up to his cheeks again, the smile on your face hurting your cheeks as you press a kiss to the side of his cheek.
“Isn’t love the greatest vice, Toru?” you whisper.
“Maybe for me. Every normal thing hits different when it comes to you.” he says, closing the space between you two again.
Summary: Bruce is just a big teddy bear with anger issues
word count: 2047
song: love story - taylor swift
🤎🧸🍂♡
The quinjet buzzes with quiet murmurs as you walk tentatively around, eyes glued to your phone. You grunt suddenly as you bump into something, looking up immediately apologetically.
“oh I’m sorry!” a gentle-looking stranger stares at you curiously, before giving you a small, shy smile.
“oh, no it’s all good.” He clears his throat, before sticking his hand out as you pocket your phone, taking in the small details of his thick, black unruly curls which were slightly greying, and the small freckles dotted among his face like stars among the night sky. “Bruce Banner.” You grasp his hand, his large, calloused one enveloping yours like a warm blanket.
“Y/N Y/L/N,” You grin awkwardly, as you stand like that for a few moments, before Bruce glances down and realises he’s still holding your hand. He quickly withdraws it, red flushing from the nape of his neck.
“I, uh,” His nerves are cutely amusing, as you touch his arm, soothing him subtly.
“I’m a big fan of your work Dr Banner.” He grimaces, likely remembering about his green alter ego.
“People say you’re a genius.” Ducking his head, he seems to fold into himself.
“That’s all that people say?” He mumbles, as you reach out an arm, tilting his chin up. Tingles seemed to erupt from where your fingers were placed on his skin, as he stares mesmerised into your eyes.
“That’s all that matters to me.” Your voice is soft and encouraging as you reach out an arm to your new colleague.
“So why did Fury drag you here?” He questions as you begin to walk towards the meeting room, and you chuckle softly, shaking your head.
“I’m enhanced. I have y/p (your powers), and he thinks that’s beneficial, apparently to find the Tesseract.” Bruce smiles down at you, the corner of his eyes crinkling affectionately.
“I think you’ll be a great asset to the team. Have you met the others?” As you turn back, you’re met with the looming shadow of the glass meeting doors. Conversations drift through the door as you swallow nervously.
“I’ve met Tony and Nat before.” The door is pulled open before them and there stands Tony in all his smug glory.
“come in. the meeting is just starting.” He says smirking, eyeing your interlocked arms with mild interest. Flashing the billionare an uncomfortable smile, you step into the room, conversation dying away all eyes turn towards the monitor. You sit at the head of the table, staring down at it as Fury stands menacingly at Loki, who looks nothing less then intruiged as the camera glares into his eyes. Bruce is leaning in, observing intently as Loki begins to speak again, a sneer curling at his lips.
“The mindless beast, makes play he's still a man. How desperate are you, that you call upon such lost creatures to defend you?” Your eyes slowly drift to Bruce.
“How desperate am I? You threaten my world with war. You steal a force you can't hope to control.” Fury spits, walking slowly towards the glass container holding Loki captive.
“You talk about peace and you kill ’cause it's fun. You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did.”
“Ooh. It burns you to come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what?” A smirk spreads across his face slowly.
“A warm light for all mankind to share, and then to be reminded what real power is.” His eyes are cold and calculating, surveying Fury with a superior air.
“Well, you let me know if Real Power wants a magazine or something.” The SHIELD Director says with a scoff, before walking out of the frame. You lean forward, trying to glimpse where he had gone, eyes narrowed as you focus on Loki’s clenched jaw and determined gaze. The screen zips to black as you lean back in your chair as Steve lets out an airy chuckle.
“He really grows on you, doesn’t he?” You remark, turning a sympathetic eye towards Bruce.
“Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?” You turn towards the muscly Norse god, eyeing as he simply stands there in stunned silence.
“He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract.” His booming voice declares, as you shift uncomfortably in your seat.
“An army from outer space?” Steve says incredulously.
“So he’s building another portal. That’s what he needs Eric Selvig for.” Bruce speaks up, removing his glasses. You rub your head, trying to nurse the ache that was building up.
“Okay, I’m too tired for this. Goodbye.” You stand from your chair, flashing Bruce a smile before walking out the door. The breeze is cooler and inviting, as you begin to make your way to the room you were to stay in. As you flop onto the bed, the comforter seems to pull you into the white plush. Kicking off your shoes lazily, you close your eyes, letting sleep pull you under.
“Mummy!” You squeal, chasing her upon your little legs. She turns, her eyes worried as she gasps.
“Darling! Why aren’t you with Daddy! It isn’t safe, you must go now!” Her voice is soft and urgent as she ushers you along. You cross your arms as she picks you up, and begin to cry and kick.
“I don’t want Daddy! I want mummy!” You pout, sniffing miserably as she groans, letting you go. You begin to sob as you hit the ground hard. A thick arm wraps around you as she walks away briskly, not turning her head.
“whose that Lisa?” A sinister voice remarks as you stand still, puffing out your chest.
“I-I’m Y/N Y/L/N.” The man is around thirty, and he gives you an insincere smile, showcasing the rotting teeth that lay in the gums. He turns to your mother, walking towards her menacingly as she seems to cower into herself, pivoting around to face him.
“Well, why didn’t you say you had a daughter? She could be beneficial for the cause!” He says, tilting her chin up as tears begin to stream down her cheeks. You frown. Suddenly, this guy didn’t seem so nice. He seemed mean and scary. He bends down, his hot breath sour in your face.
“P-Please don’t do this! She i-is only 5!” You mother screams as the man picks you up, walking away.
“Don’t worry Lisa, we’ll take great care of her.” Tears dribble into your mouth as you screech as your mother hurries after you. Her heels click against the marbled floors as she runs after the retreating, burly figure.
“Y/N! Y/N!” She yells, sobs caressing her body.
“My baby! Don’t take my baby!” A loud band echoes around the hall before the voice falls silent. Her eyes are widened in shock as she rocks slightly from side to side, before crumpling to the floor, red staining her abdomen. She does not move.
“Mama!” You screech, kicking around upon his shoulder, reaching desperately for your mother.
“shut up you little brat!” the man roars, shaking you as you break down upon his shoulder.
“Mama! Mama!” You wail miserably, as the man rolls his eyes irritably. You make no notice as he shifts you, reaching into his pocket, and pulling out a syringe. It is filled with thick, yellow liquid, the needle point and sharp as he injects it into your neck. Your eyes lull into the back of your head, as you shudder, before sucumbing to the unconciousness.
“hail hydra.” He whispers in your ear.
“rest well little one. You’ll need it.”
You wake up in a sweat, the distant, distraught cries of your mother still echoing in your head. You sit there for a moment, replaying her trembling screams and desperate, frantic grasps for you. You were the reason your mother was dead. Rubbing your eyes, you sat up and slipped out of bed, opening the door and shutting it quietly. Murmurs erupted from the lab as you padded towards it, squinting your eyes, attempting to adjust your eyes to the bright light. All eyes turn to you, as Steve pauses in his step, running a hand down his face. “just…find the cube.” He sighs, giving you a polite nod as he passes. Bruce furrows his eyebrows at you and your drowsy state.
“You should be sleeping.” He says in a concerned tone, absent-mindedly taking a step towards you. You yawn in response, croaking out an answer.
“So should you.” Your voice is raspy and deeper, and Bruce just loves it. He wants to wake up to it every morning, and to hear your sweet little-
“I’ll leave you lovebirds to it.” Tony interrupts Bruce’s spiralling fantasies, who flushes red even though he knows nobody can hear his thoughts. Tony flashes you a lazy smirk, winking.
“Use protection kids.” You groan at the implication as he slips out of the room, whistling merrily in his step and turn to the beet-red doctor in front of you.
“Tony is a pain in the ass.” His throat feels dry, as he merely nods in response.
“so whatcha been up to?” You watch intently as he immedietaly switches into nerd mode, rambling about gamma radiation and physics. Honestly, you don’t understand a word he says, too focused on the way his eyes shine adorably, and his brow crinkles ever so slightly, the way he uses his hands to animate the scenarios.
“And when the light rays come into contact with-” He pauses as you simply stare at him, spaced out, as he panics internally.
“Sorry am I boring you, oh its just nobody asks me about it, and when I’m nervous I start to just talk and I can’t stop-” He blurts, running a hand through his hair frantically. You laugh at his demeanour, smiling at him softly.
“No, it's just, you’re adorable.” He blushes, ducking his head as curls flop onto his forehead.
“You know Bruce, I think Loki’s wrong.” Buce sighs, rubbing his eyes as you tilt your head, taking a step towards him. The tension seemed to crackle in the air, causing anticipating silence to erupt around the empty room.
“How? He was completely right. I am a mindless monster. I’m nothing but dangerous here.” Your brow furrowed as you shook your head slowly. “How can you say that? Bruce,” You stepped forward once, more, so you were face to face with the doctor, touching his cheek tenderly.
“If anything,” You let out a fond chuckle.
“You’re just a big softie,” You grin tenderly, poking his brawny flesh. Bruce scrunches his nose as a little girl would.
“Softie? Me?” He puffs out his chest playfully, crossing his arms. You roll your eyes, smiling.
“Yeah!” You poke out your tongue.
“Like-like,” You pause for a moment, thinking dramatically as you tap a finger to your head.
“A big, soft, plush, teddy bear!” You squeal as he picks you up, his fingers securing onto your waist, levitating you off the ground. Your faces were mere inches apart, your breath fogging up his glasses as time slows, his lashes fluttering slightly. Your cheeks has flushed to a deep red at the close proximity as you fought the edge to squeak.
“still a teddy bear?” His gruff voice rumbles, the vibrations from his chest sending shockwaves throughout your body. You hum, your mouth to dry to form coherent words. Without a word, you lean forward, fingers grasping his chin and tilting his chin up.
“can I kiss you?” He whispers, chocolate eyes boring into yours. His gaze betrays flickers of nervousness and excitement, as you nod slowly. Bringing your lips closer to his, he pauses for a moment, as if double-checking for your confirmation. You groan, before pulling him in, lips connecting and molding together in one, joyous, electrifying kiss. He smiles against your lips, lowering you slowly onto his work table, pushing screwdrivers and papers out of the way, still attatched to you. As you reluctantly break away, gulping in fresh air, you beam at the man in front of you, his eyes still closed in escatasy.
“You’re my favourite teddy bear.”
13 june, 2005
You monitored the pale, white room around you. White bed. White cupboard. White walls. You sighed in frustration. Your rainbow obsessed 7 year old brain screamed at you to add some colour to the walls. Note to self: Bring crayons to colour walls next time.
“Please…I will take care of her… don’t do this…”
Hearing the small familiar voice of your mother, your eyes lit up, and you climbed onto your white bed, propping your elbows onto the tiny window frame in the small room, peeking your small head out as you stared curiously into the other room. Your mother talking to a man in a white coat. They were having a serious conversation, and your mother seemed like she was about to cry. Why is mommy crying? Is she hurt? You thought to yourself, immediately jumping off the bed and running to the room next door to find your mother and comfort her.
The moment you entered the room your mother was in, you noticed she instantly wiped her tears away, trying to hide her tears from you.
“Hey sweetie, you like the room?” She plastered a smile on her face as she looked endearingly at you.
“It was alright. It could have more colour though. Next time I should bring my crayons and draw Bibi on it!” You let out a huge smile at the thought of Bibi, showing off your missing front tooth. Bibi was your imaginary friend. Picture a golden retriever, but covered in rainbows. Making friends were not exactly your specialty. For some reason, everyone called you a freak and did not want to talk to you, all because you were able to move things with your mind. And so you found comfort in your imaginary friend Bibi instead. He was the only one who understood you.
“Hey sweetheart, you’ll be staying here for a while, ok? It’s to make you better. Don’t worry, mommy will come back to visit when I can.” You could tell your mother was holding back her tears. It was the same face she made when daddy screamed at her and left us, or when she received a call that grandma died.
“W-why can’t mommy stay with me?” You felt tears brimming at your eyes as a sinking feeling appeared in your heart. You could feel that something bad was happening.
“Y/n, you are a danger to your mother. You need to stay here to get better-“ The doctor in the coat was cut off as I screamed out loud.
“NO! I WANT MY MOMMY! IM NOT GOING TO STAY HERE!” Your tears were overwhelming you as more people stomped into the room, grabbing your mother’s arms as she tried to grab you into her embrace. She had released her tears by now, sobbing uncontrollably. The people who stomped into the room grabbed her arms harshly, dragging her away from me and out of the door.
You felt your arms being pulled back by the doctor as you tried reaching out for your mother. You let out a frustrated scream, as your emotions ran rampage. The room around you started to shake and you unintentionally slammed everyone in the room against the hard wall — including your mother. Everyone except you fell hard to the ground as they hit the wall, all groaning in pain. You looked at your mother apologetically, then looked at your own hands in disgust. What have I done?
Your mother looks at you with one last glance, glossy eyes as she mouths to you ‘It’s ok, i love you’ The security people, as if unphased from the hit, immediately got up, containing their job as they dragged your mother forcefully out of the room. You didn’t dare to stop them. Not after what you did. You knew you were a monster.
“Do you see now, y/n? You’re a danger to everyone. If you want to be fixed, you will do the wise choice of cooperating with us so you can see your mother again.” The doctor got up slowly, looking at you with a cunning smile.
You gulped. You were scared. So, so scared and lonely. But you knew you had to do this. You had to get better. You had to make your mom proud. So you bravely nodded, agreeing to stay at the facility to get help.
—
2006
You never saw your mother again after that incident. You were unsure if she chose not to see you again because she thought you were a monster or if she was not allowed to visit you, but you sure hoped it was the latter.
You grew accustomed to the lifestyle. Everyday, your morning would be filled with ‘recreational activities’ like playing chess, but having to move the pieces with your mind, or doing basic commands with your powers that the doctors made you do. Afternoons were the worst. They would strap you into the terrifying pink chair in the ‘rainbow room’ and conduct experiments on your brain. For a room called ‘rainbow room’, it was certainly not full of rainbows. You would have to sit through hours of excruciating pain as the voices in your head overwhelmed you. There were so many needles, blood. But there was nothing you could do. None of the doctors cared for you. You had no one.
As time passed, you started getting used to the lifestyle. The food wasn’t bad, you had a chef that would make what you wanted, and servants that would get you what want. The only issue was the loneliness. You realised you were the only patient at the facility. Nobody ever talked to you. The guards, doctors and servants were not allowed to form a relationship with you. You had no one to talk to — except Bibi. But you knew Bibi wasn’t real. You weren’t a kid anymore - you had matured quickly from having to face the bitter reality. Bibi was merely your coping mechanism from the horrors of your daily life.
That was until he came along.
On 13 June, 2006, Jeon Jungkook, a 9 year old boy, was admitted into your facility exactly a year after your admittance. You were excited when you heard the news. You would finally have someone to talk to, someone to share your pain and to hang out with — a friend. Sadly, you did not hit it off as well as you expected it to. Jungkook was a shy, frightened boy, slightly shorter than you, eyes red and puffy probably from the amount of times he cried after being separated from his family. You felt for him. You were in the exact same situation as him a year ago, and you understood that he needed some private time to heal himself. He was definitely not in the mood for making friends. So you kept your distance for a while, not wanting to seem too desperate.
Until the night of his first experience in the ‘rainbow room’. You laid on your bed, reading the same book for the thousandth time as you sighed in boredom. Until you heard a sniffle in the hallway.
Curious, you stepped out of your room, not shocked to see Jungkook crouching into a little ball in the hallway outside his room, crying quietly. You could see the deep scars left on his left arm, the same ones you get daily from the experiments. You crouch down beside him softly, hesitantly patting his back as you tried to comfort him wordlessly. At first, he looked tense and uncomfortable at your touch, but he slowly eased into it as he saw the same scars on your arms. You inched closer to him, giving him a warm embrace as you cried together with him.
After that night, the two of you became closer. He realised that you were just like him. That he was not alone in his painful journey. And so started your friendship with Jungkook.
You soon realised Jungkook was more than a shy, frightened boy. He could be playful and kind at times, and he quickly became your close friend — more like only friend.
He painted your bleak childhood colourful with memories and fun moments. The two of you would make inside jokes about the staff there, laughing at how they always wore the same clothes and probably didn’t wash them, and joke over stupid things like whose powers were stronger or who was taller.
Yet despite all the jokes, the two of you placed deep trust in one another, comforting each other when the experiments got too harsh and painful, convincing each other that it would end some day. Mornings and afternoons of playfulness and fun ended in late nights of cuddling and crying together. This lifestyle became a norm for the two of you. But still it was tolerable, because you had each other.
—
2010
“Y/n, look what I found!” Jungkook ran into your room with a big, smug toothy grin on his face, hiding something behind his back.
“Did you finally find out where your room actually is? Because I’m starting to think you don’t know that since you’re always in my room.” You rolled your eyes playfully as you pretended not to be interested in what he actually brought.
His smile faltered for a second, processing your words, before he faked an angry frown, and pounced onto your bed that you were laying on, tickling you as revenge.
“Ok stop,” you giggled, “I was just kidding, tell me what you brought.” He finally stopped tickling you, pulling something from under his shirt behind his back, as he excitedly presented it to you.
You jaw dropped in shock as you immediately snatched it from his hand, staring at it in disbelief.
“That’s right! A full set of rainbow coloured crayons just for you!” Jungkook beamed with pride.
It was only the previous night that you admitted your obsession with rainbows to him, telling him stories about Bibi, and sharing about how you wished you could colour your room walls. You’ve been begging the workers for some sort of colour since you’ve arrived, but they never met your requests, saying that it was too “childish”. You couldn’t help but wonder how Jungkook managed to get it.
“I bet Bibi could have never gotten this for you, it just proved I’m a much better friend than him!”
You laughed at Jungkook’s statement. After telling him about Bibi, he had been so jealous that you had another friend other than him, even though you repeatedly told him numerous times that Bibi was an imaginary friend. However, you didn’t admit that you hadn’t talked to Bibi in a long time since you’d made friends with Jungkook. That would make his pride swell too much.
“How did you get it? The workers never ever let me get anything like this!” You were still in disbelief.
“Well, doctor choi has been wanting to do the new form of experiment on me since a few weeks back, and he said he would reward me with anything I wanted if I did it! So since I’m the bravest and coolest person ever, I did it today!” Jungkook said with a smug smile.
You frowned when you heard what he said. For the past few weeks, Jungkook had opposed greatly to doing the new format of experiments, since it was on a much larger scale than the previous experiments we had done. Our previous experiments usually ended in scars on our arms, but this new experiment was performed on the whole body. Jungkook had protested against it, because he was too afraid of needles. He had always been less receptive to pain than you. But why did he suddenly agree to do it today?
You looked down on Jungkook’s body, noticing new scars that were on his legs. He quickly tried covering them, saying, “It’s no big deal! It wasn’t even painful!”
You knew it had to be painful. The size of the scarring were just much larger than the usual. You pouted in guilt, hugging Jungkook tightly, “You didn’t have to do that! I bet it hurt so bad!”
“It’s fine, I just wanted to do something for you after all you’ve done for me…” He looked at you, face blushing slightly from your close proximity.
That night, the two of you didn’t sleep, colouring the plain walls with the crayons until dawn broke.
“Pfff. What is that supposed to be?” Jungkook muffled his laughter when he turned to see what you were drawing.
Frowning, you exclaimed, “It’s the galaxy! These are all the planets and all my beautiful stars!”
“Those are supposed to be stars?! They’re so ugly!” Jungkook joked with you.
You threw one of the crayons in his face, ignoring his comments. You didn’t care how ugly your drawing was, you loved seeing the sky and stars shining. Especially the stars. Stars were your favourite thing. Before you came here, you and your mother went stargazing every week, staring into the beautiful sky. Even though you probably would never be able to see them again since you weren’t allowed out of the building, you still held on to the hope that maybe one day you could have that chance again.
You stared at your galaxy for a while before turning over to Jungkook’s side to see what he was drawing.
You were shocked to realise that he was a much better artist than you. You inched closer to his side, smiling when you realised what he drew. A portrait of you and him together, on a lush green field, staring up into a sky full of stars. Although you never told him directly about your love for stars, you realised he must have guessed it from all the times you talked about them and tried drawing them. Your felt your heart beat a little bit faster at the thought of Jungkook being so attentive to your likes.
Your eyes trailed down to below the beautiful drawing to see a small writing below.
‘Y/n and Jungkook together forever!’
—
2015
As the years ticked by quickly, Jungkook started growing from a boy into a man. Once he hit puberty, he shot up like a tree and grew muscles. His featured became more defined and he grew out of his baby fat. You noticed that as Jungkook turned into a teenager, he had also turned more rebellious towards the workers, always unwilling to follow through their instructions and ending up getting punished. Yet he still stayed kind and sweet towards you, acting like the same 10 year old boy when he’s around you.
“One more time and we will not tolerate this anymore! You got it?”
Hearing the faint voice of doctor choi, you quietly get up from your bed and run to your door, peeking out softly, looking in the hallway.
Doctor Choi stood outside of Jungkook’s room in anger, scolding him. You could barely see Jungkook from your angle, only seeing half of his body.
“Ya, ya whatever. I won’t do it again.” Jungkook rolled his eyes and then slammed the door in Doctor Choi’s face, resulting in Doctor Choi stomping away in anger.
When you were sure Doctor Choi was out of sight, you quietly tip toed to Jungkook’s room, knocking on his door impatiently.
“What more do you want? I-“ Jungkook opened the door, annoyed.
When he saw you, he paused and his eyes softened.
“What did you do again? I was so worried when I couldn’t find you this morning! You have to start being more careful! These people have power over our entire lives! You can’t just act recklessly like this!” You immediately pushed past him and entered his room, sitting on his bed, as you looked at him angrily.
He carried a childishly guilty look, nervously scratching the back of his neck.
“I didn’t do anything bad! I just kind of sneaked out…”
“What!?? You tried sneaking out again?? Are you crazy? You could get into serious trouble-“
“I didn’t try, I did sneak out. I succeeded.” He said with a smug smirk on his face.
You paused your words in shock.
“Wait what? You sneaked out? Whats outside? Did you see the sky? How did you sneak out?” You bombarded him with questions.
He chickled slightly, sitting beside you in the bed.
“Chill, it’s mostly just greenery. But I found a really nice spot. I’ll take you there tonight.” He smiled gently at you.
You don’t know why you agreed with Jungkook’s ridiculous rebellious plan, but the thought of even a chance of being able to see the night sky again was just too tempting.
So now you and Jungkook were currently hiding in the vents, waiting for the right time to sneak out when nobody was looking. You sat rolled up in a circle beside Jungkook who looked noticeably more uncomfortable than you due to his size. The two of you were inches away from each other and you could feel your face heating up at the close proximity.
“This is really uncomfortable.” You muttered in the awkwardness.
He chuckled stating that it would be worth it.
Sure enough, he was right, as he usually was. When the workers were not looking, he quickly dragged you out of the vent as the two of you ran as quickly and quietly as you could to the spot he was talking about.
“Don’t open your eyes!” Jungkook placed his large hands over your eyes excitedly as he led you quietly to the spot.
You followed him blindly, placing your trust in him.
“OK! Open your eyes now!” You could hear the smile in his voice, excitedly opening your eyes.
When you peeled your eyes open, you stayed silent, in awe at the view you saw. The sky was pitch black, but the bright stars around twinkled in the dark. You felt like crying. You’ve been longing for this view for years. And now that you could see it in real life you didn’t know how to feel.
“I-It’s not the best view but I thought you would like it.” Jungkook said with a shy smile.
“It’s beautiful, Jungkook! I love it so much.” You were on the verge of tears, throwing yourself onto him as you embraced him tightly in gratitude.
You could feel him sigh in relief, hugging you back just as tightly.
“I’m glad you love it.”
The two of you sat on the field in silence, staring at the sky in awe. From your peripheral view, you noticed that Jungkook was looking at you the whole time.
“You should take a picture, it’ll last longer.” You joked with him as you turned to him momentarily.
“I really wish I could.” He replied.
You kept quietly, not expecting that response. The two of you stayed quiet for a while before you broke the silence.
“My mom used to bring me out to star gaze every week… I miss her so much.”
Jungkook looked at you in slight shock, not knowing how to reply. Though the two of you shared everything with each other, parents were not a topic you commonly discussed as it was pretty sensitive.
As silence engulfed the two of you again, you asked Jungkook, “Do you want a family when you grow up?”
“Yes, but only with the woman I love.” He stared intensely at you.
You looked back into his eyes, not knowing how to reply.
“Y/n, you are the one I lo-“
You cut him off quickly, pressing your finger onto his lips.
“Please don’t, I don’t think I can handle that.” You say apologetically, “I don’t deserve to be loved. My scars, they’re too ugly. I- I’m ugly. I don’t deserve love.” Your tears fumbled your words.
Jungkook’s eyebrows fumbled, his strong arms grabbing your arms gently, relentlessly pulling it towards him even as you tried your best to pull it away. He gently looked at your scars, rubbing onto them as he pulled them to his lips and kissed them gently.
“They’re beautiful y/n, everything about you is beautiful.”
Your tears started pouring as Jungkook looked at you with so much love and affection, kissing your ugly scars with so much care as if they were the most beautiful thing in the world.
“No they’re not, I can’t even look at them. It hurts, Jungkook. I hate everything about myself.” You leaned your head on his shoulders as you cried harder.
Jungkook hesitated for a moment, before grabbing something out from his pocket.
You almost laughed amidst your tears when you saw what he took out. A pink crayon. You remember giving that to him because you refused to use that colour in your drawings, stating that you hated that colour. (mostly because it was the colour of the chair in the rainbow room) As years passed and your crayons were used up, you never knew he had kept that crayon until this day, keeping it in his pocket like that.
You kept quiet as you watched him curiously. He grabbed your arms gently, drawing cute little stars around them.
“Look, now your arm is a cute little galaxy. It’s even more beautiful than the sky up there.” He smiled gently at you.
Looking at your arm now, you chuckled slightly as it did slightly resemble the universe above you. Jungkook used his fingers to wipe away the tears below your eyes.
“Since I kissed your scars, don’t you think you should kiss mine too?” He smirked.
You laughed, tears dissipating as you bent down and kissed the scars on his arm as well. You grabbed the pink crayon, drawing stars around his scars as well. You frowned when you realise his little universe didn’t look nearly as nice as yours.
“Wow you’re trying to make my scars uglier with your ugly stars.” He teased you.
This time, instead of throwing the crayon into his faces, you smiled endearingly as you leaned your head onto his chest, savouring as much as you could of this sweet moment.
“Jungkook… sorry for cutting you off just now. In fact, I-I actually love-“
Just as you were about to confess, you were suddenly interrupted.
“Jeon Jungkook! I told you no more sneaking out! This is it! You will be punished! Grab her!”
You felt yourself being pulled away from Jungkook’s side as two strong men grabbed both sides of your arms.
“Let go of me!” You tried pushing yourself off and using your powers but you were too weak after the experiments this week.
“Stop! Let go of her now!”
You’ve never seen Jungkook this mad before. Jungkook used his powers, twisting the heads of the two men holding you, making them crumble on the floor with blood gushing out of their eyes. You looked at Jungkook in shock.
Before you could run away, more men appeared, grabbing you once again, other men grabbing onto Jungkook.
At this point, you were a sobbing mess and the both of you were unable to escape since Jungkook’s powers were too weak from attacking the two men.
Jungkook was fuming, struggling in the grip of the two men, as he repeatedly shouted, “Don’t hurt her! Please! Let her go!”
You could feel yourself getting weaker as the men holding you placed a device onto your arm, draining your energy.
“This is your punishment, Jungkook. You’ll never see her again.”
That was the last thing you heard before you blacked out.
——
2016
You barely saw Jungkook again after that. They moved his room into another wing, and held his experiments elsewhere. You were back to 2005, lonely and depressed.
The only times you heard of Jungkook were through overhearing gossips from the workers.
“He caused a ruckus again, asking to see y/n. “
Your heart ached, longing to see him once again as well, and also concerned that he would be punished for being uncooperative.
You started focusing more on following the doctor’s instructions, with the hope that you could rid of your powers quickly so you could be released together with Jungkook. You were starting to see hope, everyday your powers were slightly diminishing and becoming weaker as you focused diligently during your experiments. Although as your powers grew weaker, you noticed you were becoming weaker as well. You’d lost a bit of weight and strength. But that didn’t falter you. You were too determined on losing your powers and escaping the facility.
Every morning, you would wake up to the fading drawing of you and Jungkook together watching the sky, bringing you back to the memory of that cursed night. Nights ended with you daydreaming on what could have been if you guys weren’t separated. You just wished you could have seen him one more time.
You didn’t know that your wish would have came true so soon.
It was 2am at night. You were lying on your bed, staring at the stars you had drawn on your ceiling with the crayons Jungkook gave years back. When someone entered your room quietly.
“Y/n, I have no time to explain. You have to come with me now.”
You looked up, shocked at the familiar voice. Sure enough, it was Jungkook in the flesh. He had an anxious look on his face, as if he was in a rush.
“W-what? How?” You didn’t know how to react after seeing him for the first time in so long. He looked the same from the last time you met him, except he grew buffer and more handsome. You looked at his arms, realising he still had pink stars that looked like the ones you drew around his scars. You assumed that he had traced over the stars when they started to fade so that they would stay intact. You let out a small smile at that.
He grabbed your wrist tightly, dragging you out of your room in a rush as he kept looking around for workers. You were still in a state of shock, unable to say a word as you followed him. When he was sure no one was in the hallway, he dragged you into the janitors room, closing the door.
He turned to you, glossy eyes looking at you as if you were the only thing that mattered in his life.
“I missed you so much.”
“Me too.”
The two of you stood in silence for a few seconds until Jungkook remembered why he came to find you.
“Look, y/n, we have a chance to escape. No, we need to escape. I found out something about the facility here. They have no plans to actually cure us, they can’t. They plan to have us stay here forever, to contain us and weaken us so we can’t escape. They’re afraid of us, y/n. And they can kill us at any time. They couldn’t kill us previously because the government did not allow it with the public watching. But with time passing, I overheard them saying that the public is forgetting and the government gave them the green light to kill us anytime we prove we’re a threat. We need to go, y/n.”
You knew this time it wasn’t a joke. Jungkook had never put on such a serious face before, and you could only nod at whatever he was saying. It was weird, the way you trusted him so easily. But he was the only person in your life who ever truly understood you and supported you. Maybe that was why you agreed to easily to whatever he said.
“W-when do we leave?” Your mind was still confused at how fast things were escalating. A moment ago you were just about to fall asleep, and now you were about to escape from the only place you’ve been in for the past few years of your life.
“Now.”
You followed him quietly as the two of you entered the vent you’d once been in. Memories of that horrible day came into your mind, but you pushed them away. Despite having an inkling that something about his plan could go wrong, you tried ignoring that thought, hoping it would be a success and that the two of you could actually leave together.
The two of you crawled through the vent, going a different route from the previous time. When he stopped abruptly, you stopped as well, waiting for his instructions. Looking down from the vent through the tiny holes, you realised you were above the main entrance of the building, the same entrance you and your mother had walked through the first time you entered.
You held your breath at the memory of that day. You hadn’t seen this door since that day in 2005 since it was always blocked off by guards and lots of protection. You felt heartbeat increase, maybe there really was hope at an escape.
“Ok on my signal you follow me and jump down, alright?” Jungkook turned around to look at you as he whispered. You nodded determinedly in response.
When Jungkook mouthed the word ‘now’ to you, he kicked off an opening on the vent and jumped down onto the floor as you followed along. As you jumped down, you stumbled slightly, but Jungkook caught you, steadying you with his arms.
“Hey! What do you think you’re doing?” The guards, who had been on break took notice of us and ran after us from a few meters away.
“Run!”
Jungkook grabbed your arm tightly, pulling you along with him as the two of you ran for your lives out of the building.
As you ran, you started panicking as all you could see around you were greenery. But then hope came again when you could see a town with people and buildings in the far distance. There was a chance the two of you could make it.
You ran harder, locking hands with Jungkook as you both ran towards the town.
Bang!
The sound of the gunshot resonated through the forest. You didn’t feel any pain. But that made you feel worse. Because you knew it was Jungkook that had been shot.
“Shit…” Jungkook groaned in pain as he grabbed onto his stomach, blood gushing out.
Despite the pain, he didn’t give up, dragging you to a blind spot in the forest behind a tree where no one could see the two of you.
You placed him gently on the floor as tears flowed down your eyes uncontrollably.
“No…no, please…” You muttered as you tried putting pressure on the wound.
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. Go. Go without me.” He said with little energy.
“No! No… I’m not leaving you here.” At this point you could barely see anything, everything blurred from your tears.
“You have to go now y/n… please… I love you so much…” He said with tears.
“Sorry, y/n, I didn’t want to show you my new power this way, but I have no choice.” He said weakly.
You were confused for a moment, until he grabbed onto your arm and said, “You will run as fast as you can to the town there and not look back once. And you will never ever return to this place.”
Instantaneously after his command, your legs stood up without your will and ran towards the town.
“W-wait! Jungkook! I love you! Stop this now! Please! I’m begging you!”
Your words were no use, your legs following Jungkook’s command as you couldn’t even look back to give a final glance at him.
When you reached the town, you broke down on the street immediately, wanting to run back to help him, but you physically couldn’t.
2018
Healing was hard. Especially without Jungkook. But eventually you moved on, like you always do. After escaping, you found a small job as a cashier at a convenience store, becoming close friends with the old grandma who owned the store. Your income was not a lot, but it was enough for three meals a day and rent for a small apartment. You went on that way for about 2 years, until realising you were too lonely and needed a new companion. And so you adopted an 8 year old golden retriever who had previously been used for animal testing. The moment you saw the scars on his frail little body, you broke down and sobbed at the adoption drive in front of dozens of people. You knew at that moment that he was yours. You named him Jeon Bibi.
—
13 June, 2020
“Jeon Bibi! The park is this way, where are you bringing me to?” You chuckled at your dog’s cute behaviour as he excitedly dragged you away to the opposite direction of the park you usually walked to.
“Ok, ok you’re the boss, i’ll follow you.” You smile affectionally at him as you trail behind him, curious to find out where he was bringing you to.
When Bibi came to an abrupt stop, you realised that he stopped behind the tall silhouette of a man’s back. You looked up curiously at the man, wondering why Bibi brought you to him. The man whipped around when he felt Bibi sniffing his hands.
You felt your breath hitch as the familiar man turned around, staring deeply into your eyes. For a moment, time stopped. Your eyes turned glossy as years of memories flashed passed your mind in an instant, the walls you’ve built around your heart demolishing in a split second. Your eyes trailed from his slightly longer, curlier black hair down to his large brown doe eyes, and to his pink lips, adorning a new lip piercing. You brought your eyes down to his body, noticing he became even buffer and taller. Then your eyes reached his arms and you felt your heart stop, looking at the scars that you once rubbed, kissed, newly decorated by familiar stars that were now permanently inked onto his skin.
He seemed equally shocked as he stared at you, tears brimming his widened eyes.
You both didn’t move an inch, staring into each other’s eyes. You were the first to break the silence.
“I thought you said my stars were ugly.”
He broke into laughter amidst his tears at the fact that that was your first comment after meeting him. You could feel your heart squeeze at his laughter. God, you missed him so, so much. You found yourself laughing along to his contagious laughter. For a moment, it felt like the two of you were 10 again, laughing without any worries.
“Y/n, everything about you is beautiful, even your ugly stars.” He ceased his laughter, small smile on his face as he looked at you intensely, years of memories hidden behind those eyes.
He paused for a second, hesitating before confessing.
“Y/n, I love yo-“
Before he could finish, you cut him off by taking a step closer to him and smashing your lips against his. He instantly melted into the kiss, grabbing you tightly, scared you would be separated again. You hugged him back tighter, reassuring him that the two of you would stay together forever.
After all, he was your star, your salvation, the one who made you love your scars, the one taught you acceptance and love, the one who made living worth it.
Rather Be The Hunter Than The Prey (BuckTommy) - 3/3
Summary: Buck doesn't tell Tommy immediately about the big change at the 118. Tommy decides to do something about it.
Author's note: Title comes from Natural by Imagine Dragons.
Everyone on Ao3 wanted a part two for the little coda I wrote post-episode 7x10. And I guess I did too. So now it's a three parter.
Part One - Part Two
Read on Ao3
-
“No,” Buck said. “Tommy, this is a horrible idea. You don’t know her.”
Buck hadn’t even really told Tommy much about Taylor. Most of the LAFD knew her, though. If not for breaking the story about Jonah, then because of the book. She’d made her name in other ways too and Buck hated whenever he spotted her at a call or when he turned a tv on and she was on. He had succeeded in avoiding her for so long and didn’t want to bring her back now.
“I’m just saying that we need her because she crosses lines. She’ll pursue the story once she knows there is one and she can help us take out Gerrard.”
Buck didn’t think that Tommy really understood who Taylor was. He had listened to Tommy’s whole plan. He’d even taken notes as Tommy detailed everything he set in motion. He knew that Tommy was making sense, he was just a little wary about Taylor. He’d already made the mistake of trusting her in the past and this time around, they couldn’t afford her to go off the rails even if that was maybe exactly what they were counting on.
“I guess maybe she does owe me one,” Buck said. “I’ll call and see if she will come meet with us.”
“That’s all I ask,” Tommy said, smiling at him in a way that made Buck want to kiss him and maybe even drag him back up the stairs to his bed.
He called after breakfast and after they had cleaned up his kitchen. Tommy was at his side, offering support. At least, Buck wasn’t the only one that had had to talk to an ex this morning.
“Buckley, why are you calling me?” Taylor said.
“Hey, Taylor,” Buck said. “I, uh, I was hoping we could meet up.”
She laughed at him. “If this is some kind of booty call, I’m not interested.”
“No…no, nothing like that. I’m…I’m dating someone. Listen, it’s about a story you could report on. It’s better if we explain in person. Are you free at all today?”
“Yeah,” Taylor said after a pause. “I can be. What kind of story are we talking about?”
“Getting an awful man out of a job that puts him in a position of power that could determine life or death,” Buck said.
“Oh,” Taylor said. “That sounds…yeah, I can meet up.”
They set up a time and Taylor agreed to meet at the loft even though Buck thought it might be weird for her. It didn’t seem to be probably exactly because of who Taylor was. He’d already piqued her interest and now nothing else mattered.
It was a few hours later when Taylor knocked on his door. Buck braced himself for seeing her again. Then, he walked over to open the door. She was still Taylor. Her red hair was in loose ringlets that framed her face in a way that made her approachable and cute. She did look awkward for a moment, but then she smiled.
“Hi.”
“Uh, hi,” Buck said, letting her in. “Come in. Do you want a drink?”
“Water,” she said and headed straight for the table, where she deposited her purse. “So what exactly is this—” Taylor trailed off.
Holding the glass of water in hand, Buck turned. Taylor was turned towards the stairs where Tommy was making his way down. Buck almost laughed, because in a way he was getting used to seeing the reaction that people had to Tommy. He couldn’t blame them — couldn’t blame Taylor — Tommy was certainly eye-catching.
He set her glass of water on the table and that seemed to break the spell. She immediately turned to him, question in the raise of her eyebrow.
“Tommy, Taylor’s here,” Buck said.
“Thought I heard the door,” Tommy said as he reached the bottom of the stairs. “Casey says everyone he got in touch with is in.”
“Taylor, this is Tommy,” Buck said.
“Hi,” Tommy said.
Tommy offered his hand and Taylor shook it. She looked thrown and though Buck had seen Taylor in many different forms and states, this was still somewhat new.
“Take a seat,” Tommy said. “Evan can start explaining.”
“Right,” Buck said and he motioned for Taylor to sit. She did, watching Buck carefully.
“Bobby got replaced at the 118 through a series of circumstances,” Buck said and he explained it all, knowing that he was probably leaving out more than he should.
Taylor drank some of her water before speaking once Buck was done. “Sounds like an asshole to me,” she said. “What does this have to do with me?”
“Well,” Tommy said, taking his own seat. “We were hoping that you would help us expose Gerrard for exactly who he actually is.”
Taylor leaned back in her chair. “You know, the last time I did a profile on the 118, the department shut it down. Made it into a fluff piece.”
“And yet you still managed to use your connection to Evan to get that story on Greenway out, putting his job and reputation at risk,” Tommy said.
Buck inhaled. He hadn’t expected Tommy to bring that up.
Taylor had the decency to look contrite. She didn’t even try to defend herself. She did look from Tommy to Buck and back again.
“Defensive, I like it,” she said in the end.
“You also published an unapproved book about the LAFD,” Tommy pointed out. “I have the approval, or at least the consent of the Assistant Fire Chief,” Tommy revealed. “Well, to an extent.”
“Who even are you?” Taylor shot back.
“My boyfriend,” Buck answered.
Taylor laughed and laughed and then she clapped her hands. “Wow. Didn’t see that one coming. Maybe I should have, come to think of it. Alright, boys, I guess count me in.”
It took a very long two weeks for everything to be worked out. Every shift that Buck had leading up to it made him antsy. He was glad when everything was finally in place.
Chief Williams scheduled Taylor’s stop by the 118, including the invitation for Tommy to be there. She also made sure that Chief Simpson was available. Buck had helped to set up cameras to capture everything that went on with Gerrard in the time leading up to the interview. He’d had to be a bit sneaky about it, but Taylor had provided everything they needed. At Tommy’s instruction, he didn’t share their plan with anyone. It meant that the cameras captured everything as organically and as genuinely as they happened.
Gerrard making a limp hand motion at Buck was right there as clear as day. Gerrard making a comment about Hen only lasting for so long because she was practically a man. His dismissiveness of Chim’s contributions as a paramedic when they lost someone on the way to the hospital. The way he berated Ravi and said stuff about how the department was going nowhere with the diversity hires. All of it was captured on camera and more. So much more.
Eddie, Hen, and Chim thought it was ridiculous that Taylor Kelly was coming to interview them. Gerrard shared the news after returning from a call. Buck had to pretend that he was upset about it too and when Gerrard got wind that she was Buck’s ex-girlfriend, it seemed to make him want her there more.
Buck had never seen him more welcoming of anyone, the way Gerrard was with Taylor. It was yet another big difference between him and Bobby. He treated Taylor like an honored guest, offering her coffee and water and showing her around with warmth that made him seem fatherly — or maybe grandfatherly considering his age. It was eerie. It almost made Buck doubt that the plan would work.
Taylor took her time. Buck hated her a little for it, for how she asked them about the rescue of Bobby and Athena and how it felt to be rewarded for it. He could see how Hen and Chim took it all in as much good humor as they could muster. Eddie was monosyllabic.
Then, she singled out Gerrard.
“This is so pointless,” Chim said.
They were in the kitchen. Buck had sort of steered them there. Hen had been throwing him a few looks as if she suspected something. Meanwhile, Taylor was with Gerrard, cameras pointed at him. She was keeping things light at first.
Chief Williams and Chief Simpson hadn’t arrived. It was possible they wouldn’t, but Buck hoped they would.
Tommy got there and they all saw how Gerrard stiffened when he walked up the stairs.
“Sorry I’m late. Traffic. Well, some kind of demonstration outside. I think some people heard there were reporters here today.”
“Some people?” Hen asked.
Tommy didn’t answer. Buck just hoped the live feed was working, they’d figured it was better if Gerrard didn’t know other people were there to see it all.
At the table, Gerrard suddenly stood up. “What kind of question is that?” he said, louder than necessary. “Things were better when people knew their place. None of the quotas for diversity that need to be met so no one gets their tiny little feelings hurt.”
“I just thought it’d feel great to have such an inclusive firehouse,” Taylor said. “To lead the 118 which I know is quite diverse and doesn’t look like what the fire department even in LA looked like in the past.”
Gerrard just stared at her.
“Of course, I do know you aren’t happy that diversity exists,” Taylor said. “I wonder why take the job at this house at all.”
“What are you talking about, girl?”
“I’m talking about how you act around the people you are supposed to lead. The very same people that literally run into fires to protect the public who you in turn are supposed to support and protect and lead.”
Gerrard didn’t respond. His jaw was tightening.
“Earlier today I posted a little preview for the interview. Just some of the things I’ve uncovered along with the many many complaints made against you by your own firefighters. Some investigating into your placement here also revealed a few things I’ll be looking into after this.”
Buck watched Taylor a little bit in awe. Tommy was at his side and he felt the heat of him from how close they were standing. Ordinarily they wouldn’t stand so close, but it was nice to just rub it in, especially when Gerrard looked their way. How he glared at them like his eyes could set them on fire.
“She’s really a spitfire, isn’t she,” Tommy said.
“That wears off,” Buck said.
“What?”
“Being impressed by her.”
Tommy laughed.
“What is happening right now?” Ravi asked.
“Someone needed to take out the trash,” Tommy said.
“You said people were here?” Hen asked.
“Do you know how many queer first responders there are in LA?” Tommy asked.
It all happened quickly, in a way. Gerrard responded with anger and vitriol and demands that Taylor take her videos down once his demands to see them brought Taylor’s tablet out and ready. It wouldn’t even matter if she took them down, though, not with the reach that Taylor had these days and not with the work that had been put into getting them out into the wider public. Buck had even gotten Josh to share it over the dispatch twitter.
Gerrard was still demanding Taylor take the videos off when he seemed to then realize that the videos had come from inside the firehouse. That’s when he turned on them. Rushing towards them, face red in anger. His eyes seemed to narrow on Tommy and Buck and how close they stood. Buck almost moved away, but Tommy didn’t let him.
“Which one of you?” He asked. “Putting cameras in here without anyone’s consent? Spying! Who the fuck do you think you are?”
“Who do you think you are?” Chim asked.
“I’m your Captain,” Gerrard ground out.
“Bobby is our Captain,” Hen said.
Gerrard pointed his finger at Hen. “So, it was you!”
Hen shook her head. “No, but I give props to whoever did it and I wish they had let me help.”
“This is hostile! It’s an attack and a breach of—”
Gerrard was closer than ever, coming at Chim and Hen. Tommy stepped away from Buck. He got between them and Gerrard. Buck could see that it was taking everything for Tommy to do so and despite how big of a man he was literally and figuratively, this was still hard for him. Buck wanted nothing more than to step forward and offer him a hand to hold. He knew he couldn’t. Tommy had asked him not to if it came to it.
“I did this,” Tommy said.
His voice was little more than a whisper, but he cleared his throat.
“No one deserves to work under you, to be belittled every day while doing a job that is already full of risk and that requires trust. No one needs to hear the vitriol that comes out of your mouth or the little motions because you think it’s only men like you that deserve to be here. They don’t. I won’t stand aside and let you do this to anyone. I won’t let you hurt them or put them in a position of getting hurt.”
“Of course it’s you, Kinard. Still a coward, still a groveling people pleaser. Should have known you like to be down on your knees like the faggot you are.”
Buck felt like his heart had gotten caught in his throat. His ears were ringing. He wanted to pull Tommy back, wrap him up in his arms at the same time as he wanted to just throw a punch. Buck heard a general gasp go around them and it was louder because it came from the people down below. Casey and everyone that had come with him.
“None of you deserve to work here. In fact, none of you do. I will make sure this is the end of your careers with the LAFD,” Gerrard said. “You’re all fired.”
“No,” Assistant Chief Williams said. “They are not.”
They saw Gerrard’s face go from red to pale white. He sputtered, but no words came out.
“Chief Williams is correct,” Chief Simpson said, at her heels. “I didn’t know why she insisted I come down here, but I’m glad she did. I see now I made a mistake in placing you here, Vincent.”
Buck stepped towards Tommy, reaching for his hand and he felt Tommy grasp his tightly.
It didn’t matter what Chief Simpson said to Taylor about what she could air, or how he wanted to handle things. Not with the crowd that Casey had gathered and not with all the things that Taylor had gotten up on Instagram and TikTok. He couldn’t put a stop to it, not even the spin that Taylor managed to put to things because as Buck had pointed out, Taylor wouldn’t just allow them to dictate things. This time, it was to their advantage.
After all, it was Taylor that found the connection between Councilwoman Ortiz which became a much larger partly unrelated story. One that Taylor was hell bent on investigating.
“She knew about him,” Taylor said to him as her camera man was packing up. “Ortiz asked him to put himself forward for this job. I just don’t know why.”
Buck told her to talk to Hen and Karen.
After it was all said and done and Bobby was reinstated as Captain, Buck found himself tucked into Tommy’s side out in Hen’s backyard where Hen and Karen were hosting the celebration for everything beginning to revert back to normal.
“You’re a little bit scary, you know,” Chim said to Tommy.
“Not really,” Karen put in. “He’s on our side.”
“I just did what I wish I had been capable of doing a long time ago,” Tommy said.
Buck kissed his shoulder. It was a little early, but he really did think he wanted to keep Tommy forever.
Greetings, I hope you're having a great day. If it's okay I'd like to request a Whittaker!master x reader. Where the reader is travelling with the Doctor and while wondering the reader catches the master trying to steal a Red Crystal from the leader of the planet. The reader tries to stop them but the master takes the crystal and talks about the power it holds and how it can make the target fall in love with the holder. They then begin to say "Losing you is blue, like I'd never known. Missing you was dark gray, all alone.Forget the doctor, Somebody you never met. Loving me is red, Loving me is red Oh, red Burning red" and the reader just sees Burning red in their their head as the power takes over their mind.. (Another Taylor swift reference)
Have an amazing day.
okay believe it or not this actually tops the lavender haze idea imo, it's so amazing! I hope you enjoy what I was able to come up with ❤
Burning Red (Whittaker! Master x reader)
Warnings: the Master makes someone tiny with her TCE (effectively killing them), drugging/temporary blindness via a magic crystal, mild swearing
The Doctor always told you not to wander off whenever you and him landed on some sort of alien planet, but you very rarely listened. Take now, for example, when you decided to explore the exact same place he'd told you not to.
"What's in that building over there?" You'd asked him curiously as you studied it, figuring it to be a temple of sorts.
"It's where the planet's leader lives. It also houses a very ancient piece of crystal native to the cave systems around here," he explained while looking around. "It'd be best not to go in. The people here can be very protective to what belongs to them, and they don't take kindly to those they assume to be thieves."
Nodding in understanding, you made it seem like you were listening when in fact you weren't. The second his back was turned, you slipped away, making a beeline for the building that lie up ahead.
If you thought the architecture was gorgeous on the outside, it was even more incredible within. You were so caught up gazing at the interior in wonder you almost didn't catch the conversation that was being held in a room down the hall.
The voices got louder the farther you crept down the hall. The closer you got, the more you realized you recognized one of them.
"I- I can give you money! However much you want!" The first voice cried, presumably belonging to the planet's leader.
"I don't care how much it's worth," the Master snapped as she pointed her TCE at the leader of the planet. "If I cared about money, I'd just collapse your economic system and set up a new one that made me rich."
The leader trembled in fear as they watched her. "Please, you don't understand just how important it is-" Their words were cut short as the sight of you standing in the doorway caught their eye.
The Master turned to see what they were staring at, her scowl transforming into a flirtatious smile. "Why, hello, my dear," she purred as her eyes looked you up and down. "What a coincidence meeting you here."
"Leave them alone, Master. They didn't do anything to you," you spoke in the firmest tone you could muster, something that caused her to laugh.
"Oh, how cute. No." You noticed she was clutching a bright red crystal in her other hand, the same one the leader was begging her not to take. "I'm leaving with this crystal, and neither one of you is going to stop me."
The leader went to lunge at her suddenly, trying to catch her off guard, but she merely sighed and shot a blast from her TCE at them. You let out a gasp in horror as you watched at how they were shrunken down, being killed instantly.
"Don't think I won't do the same thing to you," the Master warned lowly, her words clearly meant to be taken as a warning (even if she was bluffing).
"You didn't have to do that, Master. They didn't have to die." She scoffed at you in annoyance, prompting you to try again. "What do you need that stupid crystal for so badly that it caused you to kill an innocent person for it?"
"This, my dear, is no ordinary crystal," she sneered at you. "It holds quite a bit of power within it. In fact, it can make whoever's in possession of it fall in love with them, just like that." She looked pretty smug, though the sound of your mocking laughter wiped the smirk off her face.
"That itty bitty thing can make someone fall in love with whoever's holding it? Yeah, right." You said with an eye roll, clearly unimpressed.
The Master glared at you. "Laugh all you want, my dear, but soon you'll see for yourself just how incredible this crystal is."
You watched as she pulled out an old, weathered looking scroll from her pocket and unraveled it, reading from it while holding the crystal. "Losing you is blue, like I've never known. Missing you was dark gray, all alone. Forget the Doctor, somebody you never met-"
Narrowing your eyes in suspicion, a frown formed on your face as you asked, "What are you doing?" A strange feeling overcame you as she ignored you, continuing to read.
"-loving me is red, loving me is red. Oh, burning red-" The Master had an evil grin on her face as she watched how disoriented you were becoming from the effects of the crystal.
"What... what did you do to me?..." You slurred out in frustration, stumbling around while your vision began to blur.
"I'm just showing you the full effects of the crystal, dear. That's all," she explained casually with a slight shrug as though it were obvious, pocketing both the crystal and the scroll.
"You wanted to drug me, that's why you needed that damn crystal so bad," you accused while shooting her a dirty look. "Because you knew I'd never betray the Doctor for you. You had to use magic to cheat because you knew I'd never love you otherwise."
Her face hardened at your words. It was true, but she'd never openly admit that. "Well, it doesn't matter my reasoning for it now, does it? You're already doomed to succumb to the powers of a shiny rock because of the spell I used to activate it. I came up with it myself, you know."
As much as you wanted to tackle her and wipe that smug look off her face, you couldn't, as it was becoming more and more difficult for you to see due to a bright red color overtaking your sight. "I- I can't see-" You said in a panic, trying to feel around for something to grab onto.
"Oh, don't be so dramatic." You felt the Master's hands grab you and pull you in close. Despite your best attempts to wiggle free, it wasn't easy when you couldn't see anything. Still, that didn't mean you were going to give up just like that.
"I have to get back to the Doctor" seemed to be your last coherent thought before you passed out in her arms. When you woke back up, you were on the Master's TARDIS. Your vision was still tinted red, but it wasn't nearly as bad as before.
"Hello, my dear," she greeted warmly while sitting in an armchair beside the bed you'd been placed in. "How are you feeling?"
The only thing you had on your mind now was her, any thoughts regarding the Doctor long gone. You reached your hands out towards her, mumbling out tiredly, "Master... I love you, Master. I love you."
She chuckled at the sudden display of affection, rising from her seat and making her way over to you. "You're adorable," she cooed in an almost condescending manner as she sat down next to you, allowing you to cling to her. "You love me? Wonderful. I'm so glad."
